I do love how Junes becomes so enlightened and aware after every book he reads. And then he encourages everyone to read whatever book it is so people can become just as educated as he now is.

I was trying to follow what he was talking about in the poverty book where rich people benefit the most from the government.

I'm not saying there aren't plenty of wealthy people milking the government but the notion anyone with any level of wealth isn't paying any taxes at all and/or milking the government is such nonsense.

Junes never got into any real details and just spoke the line that rich people aren't paying their fair share.

I do like that Jub asked him if the guy had any solutions to the poverty problem. Junes says half the book is all about solutions but never discussed one.

I do find his book reviews entertaining mostly because of how eye opening reading is for him.

Gordo must cut his mic off while he surfs Reddit when Junes is doing these things.

A lot of Craig's books sound interesting. The only one I've read is The Anxious Generation. It's an eye opener and a must read for those with young kids.

The way he described the Poverty in America book was that we are all on the government teet and that the rich get benefits the poor don't. The author brings things up like employer provided healthcare, 401k, 529s, etc. The difference which Craig never mentioned was that those are ways for the "rich" to keep more of their own money, whereas the benefits the poor get are by and large funded by taxes.

I would also highlight that with 401ks, you still ultimately get taxed on everything - wages and investment earnings. It's just a matter of the timing.

He also said it's impossible for some people to buy a house because the system won't let them and they're forced to rent.

<norm voice>um, I'm not sure that's correct.</norm voice>

He like so many others on that station and in East Dallas (and everywhere) have been paid so much for doing so very little and love such a sheltered life it has warped their reality. It's the same attitude that trust fund people have the difference is those trust fund terrys don't have a platform to air their illogical delusions to others.

I mean, it is cheaper to buy a house than to rent one.

Mortgage rates and tax rates are higher for rental properties, you have to pay management (whether you do it yourself or not), insurance, and still make some profit.

I found it amusing when he seemed to be surprised that buying a home is more expensive than renting. It was also worth a giggle when he brought up 401Ks as a cause of wealth inequality in the U.S.

Craig is still the guy who had to be convinced by his friend that "what she wants matters, too" with respect to giving in to his wife wanting to have a child. I just roll my eyes when that guy tries to moralize about anything.

He's just like a lot of folks. Read one book and take it as an absolute truth. I wonder if he's still taping his mouth shut at night or whatever that nonsense was about training nose breathing.

in 1997, "rich dad, poor dad" covered how rich people took advantage of the government wrt taxes. nothing new.

mind you, i haven't read the book to which junes referred.

but like has been said, every book he read is eye opening.

Every topic is eye opening when you have been single and making six figures for 30 years to talk into a microphone about sports for 18.5 hours a week. You're not going to be deep and well rounded. You're going to be shallow undereducated and misinformed.
