About 50 people in line this morning when I went to vote at 8:30 AM. Took longer than normal to vote bc there are 21 amendments to the city charter on the ballot. Drove by the same location at 3 PM and the line was easily over 100 and snaking around the building. Just FYI

I drove by Audelia about 5 times today. The shortest line was at 8:10. It was frequently down the sidewalk.

I'm waiting until Thursday. Or maybe next week.

Apparently, the County says there is a "glitch" that is causing the long wait times. I plan to go first thing in the morning Saturday. Supposed to be open 7 to 7 then.

I only early voted one time and waited over an hour. I now go in the afternoon of election day and usually have to wait no more than 10 minutes.

I know there was an issue with people in HPISD getting a ballot for Dallas that did not contain the bond amendment.

Out the door and nearly to the road again this morning.

Don't recall lines like this in 20 or 16.

I couldn't spare the time so went to Richland College. No line. Interesting that Texas early voter numbers are way up compared to '16 and '20. But Dallas County is not. According to the DMN.

Audelia library must not be representative of the larger county.

It's probably the reddest area of Dallas proper.

Which is why we were punished for not electing Lisa Luby Ryan or reelecting Huffines and Sessions. LH is gerrymandered to hell.

Why are you undecided on pay raises for the city council? The council was much better when they were paid $50 per meeting! It is not supposed to be a job and they should not be paid like it. They already have two secretaries each.

Just the price you must pay to keep us in the northern DFW burbs safely red, appreciate the sacrifice.

The community has demanded that it is a "job". Or at least the hours demanded equal 60-80 per week. If you can convince the community to change expectations back to a part-time gig, then we could pay accordingly. But that's not the reality of the role anymore. Unless you just want wealthy or retired candidates, you have to pay a wage somewhat commensurate with the expectations of the role.

From my handy-dandy guide:
Quote:

Prop C: Undecided. Significant pay raises for the City Council and Mayor. Right now, CC members get $60k and the mayor gets $80k. This would raise them to $90k and $110k respectively. I get the intent; we want good people…and you need to pay them. But given the lack of productive work downtown…I'm not sure (DMN says "NO" btw).
Or "what oldag941 said"

edit...I voted "no"

I voted NO until the cut the fat (i.e. multiple EAs) to fund the raises.

Go to two city council meetings and then tell me the council members deserve to be paid that salary. It is nowhere near 60-80 hours per week btw.

McGough put in that amount of time. And was rewarded for it by having his career ruined. But he was definitely an outlier.

Well, I assume you go to those meetings and know a handful of current councilmembers. I only speak from my relationships with multiple councilmembers and know for a fact that they work those hours. Between engaging with the community from breakfasts to evening presentations; weekend events in attendance; community gatherings; funerals; ribbon cuttings plus the standard council meetings and all of the associated committee assigned meetings.....they put in what most wouldn't / don't do. But I only know 5 of them personally. So my knowledge is based on 35% of council.

Other than Mendelson, I have found the council to be amusingly ignorant on most of the major issues. Their one talent in life is saying the right thing to get them elected. Their inability to think critically or in a dynamic manner is shocking.

That was me in the maroon truck driving around the parking lot several times a day to see if the line was shorter....leaving on a trip after LSU so had to finally break down and stand in line. Took almost an hour.

Early voting at Richland College was a breeze this morning and not much of a hike for Lake Highlands folks. No line at all at around 9:00 am. My wife had the same experience late last week.

Lake highlands is poorly defined. Roughly District 10 city of Dallas. But the Lake Highlands High feeder pattern doesn't match district 10 entirely. If there is any city of Richardson in lake highlands, it's a tiny amount. Randomly, about 65% of Richardson ISD is in city of Dallas.

No reason to wait more than 10 minutes right now anywhere in Dallas county. Audelia Library had a 2 hr wait reported at 1245 when people could just walk down the street 10 minutes to LH High School and not even wait 5 minutes.
