Looking for a great steakhouse to splurge after a promotion into management. Preferably Dallas area. If they have legit A5 Wagyu that is a plus. I know Pappas, Al B et all exist but wanted to get a few takes from Aggies who have been personally and if there is something a little extra special about another

I am in the burbs but Dee Lincolns at The Star in Frisco and Trickrider at the Omni PGA are both good. I haven't tried the Wagyu at either but know they have it on the menu. Dakota's was solid in downtown Dallas when I went. Great atmosphere. Been a while but Nick and Sam's used to be good as well.

Bar Ranch, not sure if you can make it in this weekend or not.

Brass Ram has been at the top of my restaurant lists for Dallas lately. Steaks are really good and something about the vibe of the place really does something for me.

I've always enjoyed Nick and Sam's and Pappas Bros as well and they are your more stereotypical high end steakhouse. Al Biernat's is good too for that type of place.

ETA - Nick and Sam's is much more what you expect for Dallas/Uptown scene and Al Biernat's to me is typically a little bit of an older crowd. Except for some of the older guys' girlfriends. lol

Nick and Sam's is a pretty awesome experience and has some incredible options. That's probably my choice in that circumstance. Been there a couple times with a vendor this last year and it never disappoints.

Check out Monarch. It's not a pure steakhouse but they have a good steak selection including A5. Been a few times and it's great plus great views. Al Biernat's is my favorite steakhouse in Dallas (I like the original Bob's too but it's not super fancy for a splurge meal imo). I don't care for Nick and Sam's. It's dark, loud, and the waiter was constantly trying to upsell, bringing stuff we didn't order to the table like a salesman the last time I was there.

Town Hearth is another option.

I always liked III Forks. Al Biernat's is always a solid choice.

I had one of the best steaks I've ever had at Town Hearth, but I refuse to go there anymore because they do everything in their power to turn your table and get you the hell out of their restaurant. It ruins the experience.

The last time we had a steak in Dallas was at Dakota's and we loved it. It's been there forever, closed down during Covid, and then re-opened under new ownership a couple of years ago. It was damn good and it's a fairly unique atmosphere.

Nick and Sam's is a fun flashy place to have a meal. And they have legit A5 as well as other high end cuts

Knife is another good option.

I haven't been to Nick & Sam's since the before times, but it was always a fun place.

Town Hearth is a good choice

I really like Stillwell's also. Get a room and make it a staycation. Library bar in the basement is pretty neat too.

Thank you all. I have a lot to look into

I believe Nick and Sam's is only place that does actual Japanese wagyu. Others will be Australian or American.

I'd search around if that's what you are looking for.

I've had A5 Japanese at Al Biernat's more than once

Also had Hokkaido Snow Beef at AlB's before too. 8oz was about $275.

Well there you go. I'd just make sure to do research. Lots say they have wagyu. Few do.

If you want A5 this is your best best. i've been to all of the places suggested and Bar Ranch is the most over the top amazing place in the area.

I see that they sell a 12oz a5 wagyu sirloin for $125. But most every else I am seeing $30-40 per oz? Seems like a pretty huge disconnect

It's not cheap. and it's based on what they have on hand. But it's an experience, and it's worth it

I think I mean that the bar ranch seems cheap. That much a5 at say Al Biernat would be north of $300

Stillwells also claims to have Japanese Wagyu on the menu, but it doesn't list a grade and is "market price". The other steaks I've had there have been very good though.

Same at Nick and Sam's. I think it was like $50-$75 an ounce last time I was there. I've had snow beef a few times at different places, but nothing like the stuff at Nick and Sam's. It was a so much better than anywhere else i've had it. I think that was $75 for 4 ounces.

I prefer snow beef over A5

A5 is so tender it's almost mushy.

I guess a lot of y'all have great taste. Ain't no steak on the planet that's worth $30-$40 an ounce to me. Hell, $10 an ounce makes me squeal.
