looking for cheaper venues if anyone knows anything...

In Fort Worth? I've hosted a few events at Roots and they've all been beautiful. It's on the smaller side, so may not work depending on your guest count. I feel their fees are very reasonable for the quality of the venue and the level of service they offer. I've used their all-inclusive options as well as my own vendors and found it's less expensive and much easier to let them handle everything.

Venue weddings are very stressful. I was just recently reminded why church weddings make so much sense.

What's your budget?

We got married 17 years ago and the cheapest venue wedding we found was $30k (in Dallas).

I can't f'ing imagine how much it costs now. We are on vacation at a high end place right now and there happened to be a wedding here. We estimated it was at least a $300k wedding considering the locale and the amount of flowers involved.

If I had a daughter, I would laugh at her wanting a wedding like this.

You know, churches are pretty cheap. And most have a parish hall that's cheap too.

Not sure what your budget is but we had our wedding and reception at the Ashton Hotel in downtown Ft Worth. It was reasonable at that time. But that has been ~15 years ago now. Worth a look though. We loved the venue.

You should be able to find something really nice for 10-15K.
Just for information here is the link to Ashton's wedding page
Ashton Hotel

We spent I think 5K all in for the venue and catering options etc. But as I said before it was 15 years ago. Good luck! I always like to tell newlyweds that as long as you're hitched at the end of the day it was a successful wedding.

We got married at the Texas Hall of State in Fair Park. It was very affordable.

Spent a lot of money on first wedding then a lot more money on a divorce.

Second wedding was free at a gazebo in a park and no divorce.

We did this, except Dominican. It was great and cheap. Small guest list, not surprisingly. They were all really happy to be there.

ok, what about catering (we are thinking buffet style, maybe even bbq), florals ( thinking of making the arrangement and centerpieces myself) photographer?

Flowers will kill a budget QUICK. I couldn't believe how much we spent on flowers and I don't think we did anything extravagant.

Look at flowermoxie.com

We spent about $1000 with them last month for my daughter's wedding and was fairly positive. Only one of the flower types didn't make it. I had to run out and buy up a substitute. But was a pretty good experience when the girls made a day out of doing the arrangements.

The most budget friendly catering I've used is Babe's and my guests liked it. Heim is more expensive, but also very good.

For flowers, I've bought from both central market and Trader Joe's and done my own arrangements to cut costs. I know a lot of people like the flower market on west 7th and also Costco, but I don't have personal experience with ordering from either of them.

Check out Dallas Parks and Rec. Winfrey point is beautiful, been to many events there. Can bring in your own caterer. I have been in the food & beverage industry for 30 years. You can definitely keep the costs down if you plan for yourselves and not to impress others. I am old-fashioned and think the ceremony is the most important thing. A church wedding and a church event room is nice, but may book up in advance. Congratulations!
