The old 1899 terminal and round house for the T&P is lower left. You can see the courthouse upper right. Hell's Half Acre is the area across Lancaster from the station.

It was Fort Worth's red light district way back in the day.

This is cool. Of the taller buildings, wonder how many are still standing and what they currently are. Guessing some are hotels

The one in the middle that looks like it has a stripe down the center is the Wagoner Bldg. That is where the gas explosion was. I believe the big bldg 2 blocks to the right of that is now the Hilton, where JFK stayed the night before going to Dallas

I started trying to identify buildings, but figured you guys can do better. St. Patrick Cathedral on Throckmorton cna be seen clearly.

Hell's Half Acre was bought up and cleared out to build the Convention Center and Water Gardens.

I think the area (Hell's Half Acre) was pretty much cleaned up by WW1. I could be wrong but thought I heard that once. Maybe it spiked again during the 30s?

Didn't know The Acre had been cleared out by the 1920's. I remember reading an article about how the Convention Center and Water Gardens cleaned up a blighted area and figured that's what they were talking about.

There is a Hell's Half Acre 5K/10K race every year in July in Fort Worth.

I think that area around the water gardens has been a blight more than once.

Man, never realized how old some of the buildings downtown were!
