On Mi Cocina, we like it. I do think their salsa is very average.

I haven't been to Cracker Barrel in decades... what are the thoughts on them?
I like it for breakfast and kitschy general store

I like Mi Cocina, man. Rico salad, crispy chicken enchiladas, and the chicken soup all can get it. I like their brisket tacos pretty well, too. Nothing wrong with Mi Cocina.

Yeah, with so many excellent mom & pop Mexican places, going to this joint just never makes sense, unless you just don't know any better.TexasAggie008 said:

They were fantastic when they opened the original location in Rockwall, I'm done with them now, inconsistent. and terrible, rude employees.ChoppinDs40 said:saltyoldguy said:

Wife and I had a food poisoning experience thanks to Pappasito's. We still went there cuz food was good and I worked there at the time!Saxsoon said:TexasAggie008 said:

You know I had a decent meal at one in phoenix. Ate at the one in college station with my mom and it was so *********awful we reference it ten years later.
My sister had food poisoning at an Outback Steakhouse and we don't reference it as much

Make me.
Back in the telecom days they had a good happy hour. Didn't pay much attention to the food but after a few margs it didn't matter as much.TexasAggie008 said:

I still want their tortilla soup anytime I'm feeling under the weather. Their chips and Bella Blanca are amazing.
Their grilled avocados are amazing.... or they suck. There is no in between.

I'll attempt to clear up the Mi Cocina confusion. My wife, all her friends, my mother, my MIL, etc. all think Mi Cocina is God's gift to Tex-Mex. Their food is good, but in the end, it's still just Tex-Mex. Which places it at the top of my overrated food rankings.

I'm surprised to see Applebee's not mentioned, I'd eat mi cocina 100 times before stepping into an Applebee's again.
ETA, my apologies, it was mentioned on page 1. But I do believe it deserves Texags wrath much more than overpriced mediocre tex mex restaurants that are littered throughout the metroplex.
Is it popular though? I know there are tons of locations, but I suspect it's not expanding for thriving. A friend and I used to go in a local one occasionally for cheap beer and it was never close to full. I agree the food is terrible.turf guy ag said:

Had same thought. I don't think Applebee's is popular. I don't even know where one is.double aught said:Is it popular though? One place I've yet to see mentioned that I'm always disappointed with - Texas Roadhouse. Perhaps I'm a steak snob, but their steaks always seem cheap and thin - baked potato is always overdone.

It's a $20 steak, what are you expecting? Their food is pretty good for the price.
