As far as no-frills places, I'm a fan of Pulido's, but admittedly may be biased due to nostalgia.

Joe T's has great atmosphere and mediocre food. Mexican Inn is solid chain along with Uncle Julio's, Pappasitos, Don Pablo's, etc. My favorite is El Paseo though I usually go to the Azle location.

I thought the same thing. Pappasitos fajitas with bacon wrapped jalapeo shrimp brochettes and the little vial of butter are like crack.

Lived in Ohio for a few years. We had a Don Pablo's and it was amazing. This is what happens with no access to Mexican food.

Cousin bartended at the pappasitos in Austin off 35/290. He would feed me those gratis and I'd have to stop for a nap between there and Fort Worth.

Uncle Julio's is my least favorite of those. Lumping in mostly as decent chains.

The wife and I will usually split a mix fajitas for one since there's so much meat on there and then add a extra side of rice & beans. Good deal!

I've been meaning to try Joe Ts just because of the atmosphere and I hear the margs are good. As for other places, I work with Mexicans, so I go to all the dives. Lots of them in Arlington.

One of my favorites is Los molcajetes on beach street north of 820. Have 3 very good salsas and homemade corn and flour tortillas that are amazing. Very good guacamole and everything is from scratch. Their sister restaurants "Mi Mueblo" are pretty good as well. These aren't actually in FW however.

If you like spicy then ask for their hot salsa. It's actually temperature warm and very good.

Tacos al carbon are money. Green sauce is good with chips but you may have to ask. If you're into sweets then do yourself a favor and get a sopapilla. Margs are good. All around great/high quality food. Report back after please. I'd be interested in other folks opinions. Edit: And make sure to ask for the hot sauce I mentioned earlier. I could drink it it's so good.
