I need a loose diamond to replace one that fell out of my wife's ring. Is there a wholesaler or independent dealer that you recommend? She got a quote from Craig Lawrence jewelry but it seems high.

Do a search on pricescope.com. You can put in your parameters and you usually get a discount from their vendors. Some of their vendors are whiteflash, Brian Gavin diamonds, James Allen, and good old gold.

Also, if you can't decide between a few different diamonds, you can post on the rocky talk board of their forum and they can analyze the stones and give you their recommendation.

I'd look at an out of state vendor so you can avoid sales tax.

Just purchased an engagement ring from Oded! Awesome experience once you get past the weird feeling of not being in a Jewelry store. He is located on the 6th floor of an office building off of 635. He is an big hunter and fisherman. He was my 3rd independent jeweler to visit. He gave me the best price and really explains everything well. His prices were better than what I could get a the World Trade Center. He can usually turn a ring around about 1 week.

At least give him a call.

I'd recommend Charles Skibell at Preston Center. When I bought my wife's ring, he took me to a separate room and dumped a ton of diamonds on the table for me to choose from, and we had a ring custom made around the diamond I chose.

Really great, personalized service.

Bishops in Oak Cliff. He owns a pawn shop and works out the back. We replaced my wife's wedding ring. We went to various stores and she found one she liked. He made an exact replica for half the price. He has certified stones, which he will sale also.

My father in law, who can afford Tiffany's, buys all my mother in laws jewelry there.

At least find the size/cut/clarity/color/etc you want, print off a few from the website and take them with you if you go somewhere.

I have a beautiful diamond ring on my finger that my husband got from Chucktheaggiejeweler! The diamonds are gorgeous and are very reasonably priced. My brother in law just picked up his wedding rings from Chuck last week as well and they're incredible. Definitely give him a shot at your business.
