Going to experience ACL Festival for the first time this year...

any pro tips?

Bring your own drugs. You don't know what you'll actually get onsite

There is a strict no smoking policy. So if you're bringing a Vape or anything else you better keister it. Which is funny because there's tons of Vape and smoke everywhere but if you put it in the tray at security they'll take it

Go to the EDM shows even if you aren't into them, they are fun


Bring Mary Jane and skip the alcohol, you will have a better time. You can get scalped tickets but the discount usually isn't worth the haggle

Skip work on Friday and get down there early before the crowds. In fact get down there early before the crowds every day and enjoy the wide open spaces (goes away quickly)

Anyone going to float fest?

• Go see a couple bands you've never heard of.
• Park off Barton Skyway/Spyglass and walk in. It's about a mile, mile and a half, but it's better than taking a shuttle IMO. (Assuming this is still an option -- I haven't gone in a couple years)
• Do what Keeper of The Spirits said above. Solid advice.
• Bring a bandana/gaiter to protect your face from dust/cover your neck from sun.

Regardless of how bad people say the lineup is, it's always a good time. I've never regretted going to ACL Fest.

I park at the Long Center. Went up to $15 a day last year but still $90 for both weekends is better than taking the downtown shuttles that take forever to pick you up.

I've been a handful of times, and have never regretted the few times I've sprung for VIP.

If you go early in the day, pace your drinking.

The first few times I went I was absolutely wasted by the headliners and totally dehydrated/sunburned from the heat.

Also don't go on a Saturday so you can watch college football.

About 7 or 8 years ago they had a bunch of screens in the beer tent showing games. Aggies were on a bye (I think) and I wasn't interested in whatever bands were playing at the time so we watched portions of a few games in the tent. It was an awesome side benefit that night. I don't know if they still do that or not though.

I didn't go this past year, but all the years prior they still had the games on in the beer tent.

I have gone to ACL 3 times, but never all 3 days.
2018: Weekend 2 Saturday
2019: Weekend 1 Saturday
2021: Weekend 1 Sunday

I will be going to Weekend 2 Saturday, October 15th this year. I chose that date becasue Saturday works best for me, and our football team is on a bye week.

Pace yourself on drinking alcohol but also drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. There will be multiple TVs in the beer tent, and you can catch football games there, including our game at Alabama on 10/8.

VIP is worth it if you have the means.

Went to float fest this weekend, and it was damn fun. Honestly, better than my last ACL experience.
