Elgin's current population is 10,549. They are expecting a 50% growth if a family of three moved into each one of the houses.
Quote:

The Brickston MUD, situated on 637.3 acres on the western side of Elgin, will feature 1,909 single-family homes, 112 duplexes and 476 multifamily units, according to Council documents.

The MUD will also feature more than 96 acres of public parks and open spaces, plus about 17 acres devoted to public schools and safety services. Of that, 15 acres will be donated to Elgin Independent School District for a new elementary school, and two acres will go to public safety use, Elgin City Manager Thomas Mattis said.

Noooooo. More traffic between me and work. If they put any more stop lights on highway 290, they might as well shut it down.

Sorry, East of Austin is the only place they can build cheap homes for folks these days. 290 will need to be expanded at some point.

290 needs to be a highway without lights. It's beyond ridiculous at this point.

They are working on it, however, it is on the rich person side.

290 is a cluster now east of Austin. I've avoided it for years going the back way

969 used to be a great way to get in and out if going through Bastrop wasn't a problem.

They need to run an overpass from the east side of Elgin to the west side of Dripping Springs.

I live in round rock so not sure this is for you. I take 79 to 95 down to 290. Although Hutto is now almost as bad

Samsung jobs will start to make that miserable soon enough.

Actually I use a back-back way from my house. I use the toll to Gattis and wind to 1660 that eventually gets to 95 just north of Coupland. That by passes 79, Hutto and Taylor

I know the 1660 cutoff also, as my in-laws live on the east side of round rock. It'll be great until some of those cotton and corn farmers sell out to some developers. Then it'll be 20 stop signs too.

Yep matter of time. Hutto is already extending that way

Just like 183 before they built 183A. Get ready for 290 to get the same treatment 183 got.

Wow more toll roads from our government instead of investment of infrastructure?? Despite rapid population and property price growth, thus increasing tax income??

Can't wait!
