I live in College Station but will be coming to Austin this weekend and wanted to see if I might stop for a haircut that I haven't yet been able to find here in B/CS.

The short of it is: I'm wanting someone who can look at my hair (and maybe face/head shape if we really want to get fancy) and tell me what I should do with it, rather than me telling them how to cut it.

Of course I'll give some parameters on styles I like/dislike and I am wanting to keep it a specified length.

Any places y'all recommend? Typically (lately) I've just done your standard bald fade, but I decided to let it grow and it's currently at it's longest ever (maybe 6" on top, still not long on the sides). The service will be more about a cleaning trim and some guidance on where to take the hair over the next few months and how to style it.

(Bonus points for a place that messes with a beard as I've been doing no shave November since September, but the hair is definitely priority as I'm probably just going to ditch the beard in a couple weeks.)

I go to Finley's on Burnet Rd. I went several extra months without a cut before going in October. I really liked how it turned out.

I think there's one downtown on 3rd street too.

Honest Barber has been awesome. Alexis usually cuts my hair. I used to keep it short, but grew it out during Covid. He helped me figure out a good "longer cut" that suits me. I'm sure anyone there could do the same.

They have two locations now one on Burnet Road and another in Hyde Park called "Little Barber."

Rudy at Swayd does beards and hasn't given me a bad haircut yet--after having 35 years of disappointing cuts from all over. I just tell him to do whatever he wants and it always ends up great.

Rule #1: Get a haircut from someone who has a haircut that you like and want.
