Ridiculous I like how they constantly cite Travis County decisions even though 2/3rds of the school foot print is in Williamson who says to follow governors orders.
Our kids go to the same school. I'm responsible for two that contribute to the 19%.
They planned this. They got everyone in school and flipped.
I don't think that was the case at all. I think it was TEA saying that they wouldn't enforce anything that gave them the green light to flip

There's only 3 campuses that had more then 10 cases this week. I don't understand why they aren't managing campuses vs going straight to "shut down the whole district". That feels like fear porn.

Health Protocols and Next Steps
We continue to require masks in all district facilities. If you have not filled out an opt-out form for your student and wish to, please reach out to your campus administrator.
Should the number of cases continue to increase we may be forced to close multiple classrooms and whole schools. This will have implications on academic learning as well as extra-curricular activities.
We need everyone to work together and implement as many mitigation measures as possible to stop the spread. Our plea is for the community to come together so we can stay open and stay safe.

I will say, I was happy to see that he apologized last night.
Also happy to see that he mentioned he wasn't being a good role model and that he hopes kids learn from him and show grace, kindness, etc.
Props for that.
That said; he clearly is not built to serve in his role. He can't separate his own personal frustrations and emotions from the job.

Not a word from the district since the court ruling yesterday. I know someone in the school board who is fighting to keep mask mandates away and she said it's utter chaos with the rest of the board behind the scenes.

Yea I've never seen anything like it. Completely defiant and utterly hell bent on making everyone wear their face diapers. I just don't get it.
Trustee Harrison's pinned tweet on her profile says that this is a hill she's willing to die on. Of all things. Not student outcomes. I hope that she is voted out in November over it.

That lady is an idiot.
We had a town hall meeting with her this afternoon and also Trustee Mary Bone. Both said things are pretty grim behind the scenes on the board. All 4 members up for re election next year need to be thrown out on their asses.
She encouraged us to stay active and engaged but wasn't able to tell us to defy the mandate (though we as a family intend to).

Now do San Marcos ISD
Round Rock ISD has recently learned that a judge in Williamson County signed an order temporarily prohibiting the District from enforcing its mask requirement. Round Rock ISD had not been notified of any request by the Texas Attorney General's office for such an order and has not been properly served to date. The District and its legal counsel were not afforded the opportunity to be present at any court proceeding to oppose the issuance of this order.
Round Rock ISD will comply with any lawfully issued court order. We will also use all proper and available legal proceedings to challenge this order and vigorously defend its long-established lawful authority to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for Round Rock ISD students and staff, including during this pandemic. The District continues to strongly encourage and recommend the use of masks in accordance with guidance from our local health authorities.
