Any chance any of you good (and wealthy) Ags out there could provide a fellow Ag a place to launch a boat on McQueeney? Not looking for a handout, just a place to put in to fish for the day. Will gladly pay for a launch point. FYI, this will not become a "weekly" request...maybe a couple times a year. Any help appreciated. The fishing has gone downhill since the 98 flood, there is no cover anymore; the boats and development helped destruct the rest of the cover. There is one ramp up river on Ridgeroad, I believe GBRA owns the ramp but you might get lucky and find the gate open.

The lake is still open to the public, however recently all of the land with ramps has been purchased for private use. The law states that if there is not a state highway or interstate crossing the lake, public access points are not required since most public ramps are below the bridges.

I grew up on the lake and my parents still live there, my Dad fishes nearly everyday and used to catch 5-7 lbs bass regularly, now it's rare to even catch a bass over 3 lbs.

It's the best lake around for fun and some skiing in the summer and nice and tranquil in the fall and winter but fishing just plain sucks.

Report back if you have any luck, there are still a few brush piles if you can find them.

The Ski Lodge.

The ski lodge only if you are a member, for better fishing try Meadow Lake or Lake Placid, which are the next lakes down river. The big McQueeney fish went there after the floods.

Or go up to Dunlap, there is a put in for pay on Zip road and a public ramp under IH 35 in New Braunfels. Fish around the damn on the left side there are tons of trees. I have wasted a couple of props sking to close to that side so I know they are there!
