Actually I'd prefer an Orvis store but I don't think I could sustain the place all by myself.
Of course, in Texags fashion, brimming with optimism, there are already folks on here commenting on what they'd rather have, or how there are no bodies of water here... Glad this board has the ear of our local leaders.

This is GREAT news for College Station and I can't overstate how significant I believe this is for Midtown.
When you look at everything coming together in this area, the bigger picture is pretty exciting.
Bass Pro Shops gives Midtown a true regional destination retailer. This isn't simply another store opening. Bass Pro has the ability to draw people from across the Brazos Valley and surrounding communities into this part of College Station.
And I think there's something else worth paying attention to here:
Major companies don't choose locations like this by accident. They study population growth, traffic patterns, demographics, rooftops, development pipelines and where they believe future demand is headed.
Bass Pro choosing Midtown says a lot about the future of this area.
And it's just one piece of what's happening here.
Immediately adjacent to Midtown, the planned new baseball and softball complex is projected to generate approximately 40,000 hotel room nights each summer. That's thousands of families coming into the area who will need places to stay, eat, shop and spend time between games.
Then look east toward Terafab and Gibbons Creek. That massive project has the potential to bring significant new employment, investment and development to the Highway 30 corridor, with Midtown positioned on the College Station side of that growth.
Put all of those pieces together:
Bass Pro Shops.
40,000 projected hotel room nights each summer.
Terafab and the emerging Highway 30 growth corridor.
Continued growth in south College Station.
That's a pretty compelling combination.
From a commercial real estate standpoint, this is exactly what you want to see: more destination traffic, more visitors, more rooftops, more investment and ultimately, more demand for restaurants, hotels, retail, entertainment and other businesses.
I've been excited about the future of Midtown for a while, but developments like this are starting to show just how much potential this area really has.

The messaging from the Councial meeting was pretty solid. They cant say its a done deal, but the messaging was quite a bit more solid than "in talks." The ball will start rolling with action items to make it happen in the coming council meetings.

If Odessa has one, College Station should have one too.
Thera are plenty of fishing spots around here. You just need to know where to go.
Frank Mihalopoulous with Corinth is an old dear friend. He did the Home Depot/Gateway development, the College Station Lowes as well. He is a very well connected and accomplished developer based in Dallas and has served College Station well. I expect no less from this proposed project.

Gander Mountain was way overpriced. Only time i ever bought anything there was on clearance. They did have a big gun selection though, so you could handle a few to see what you liked, and then go buy it somewhere else.
Any predictions on what restaurant will take the spot across the street from Costco gas station? I vote Luby's but I'm an old!

There is a Waffle House coming to Deacon and Wellborn Rd.
I see everyone complaining about no Waffle House, when less than a year ago it was announced we are getting 6 of them
That rumor was debunked on here sometime back.
Edit: the one about 6 in town, that is. Hopefully we still get one.

I didn't realize the 6 wasn't accurate. But there is in fact 1 planned for Wellborn and Deacon
They are building a McDonalds at Wellborn and Deacon. Haven't see anything about a Waffle House.
We are not getting a Waffle House. Market research has spoken.
