We've been growing peaches and a few plums since 2010, averaging about 27 trees at one time. A few years were sparse with low chill hours but my June Golds and TexKings still did ok.
This year will be a 98% failure. Warm thru the middle of January with few chill hours recorded. Trees began to bloom in mid January and the 2 night cold snap of 17 degrees wiped them out. Usually there is another bloom which did happen by mid-late February but nothing stuck. Made it thru cracking but small fruit completely aborted.
Besides the above cultivars, we have White Delight 1, Fire and Royal Zest, FlordaKing, and young TexStars.
I must say that the calorie sink that the trees avoided has allowed them to make the most incredible growth by mid-May that we have ever seen. Next year should be good.
