Rumor is it's going into the Shiner Park location. Friend works on Northgate and they have heard the sane

Good!

But the dance floor was pretty small in that place. Hope they can make it bigger.

Ok that would probably work. I was going to say, any new location wouldn't work because it wouldn't have the soaked in stale beer, old smoke, sweat, etc smell. But this place should pass just fine

The only way they could do it would be at the expense of the bar at the back of the building which they would be turning into a stage anyway one would think.

That bar ruined the place for live music.

Also I doubt you'll see bigger full band shows there as the loading area and bus parking is very difficult there. It's also hard to sell enough tickets to support a Randy or Wade sized show.

But still it gives me some hope that we'll have a decent live music venue in town. Back when it was Shadow Canyon I saw Todd Snider, Jimmy Vaughn, Tripping Daisies, Blue October and a bunch of other really great bands there.

The original Harry's dance floor was also pretty small.

That's why we all buy condos down there. Old school takes over NG.

That's my thought too. I'd still go to Harry's in its former location or if it was located elsewhere. I'm not going to ng. And I'm 33, FWIW.

It's funny you say that bc my son and I were talking about this. He's a senior at A&M.

When I said I'm surprised they were maybe moving there bc the dance floor was so small.

And he says Harry's was maybe too big.

I laughed at him and had to explain to him what it was like back when I was in school. Brought up both the Hall of Fame and Denim and Diamonds. Told him how their dance floors were twice bigger than Harry's.

But D&D's was so awful! I never really liked the new floor at Harry's either. I still went to my usual booth and danced on the old floor.

I liked Harry's best bc it had a good crowd.

Apparently one of the axe throwing places has a floor for line dancing now. Just watch your head!

I loved Harry's. It's where I met my ex husband. I did love the varied crowd though.

At Harry's you had to move with the crowd most of the time. The Hall and D & D you could at least move around the slowpokes.

Yeah but those shifting floorboards at D&D could catch a boot

Alcohol, a dance floor, and axe throwing - what could go wrong?

I could move around the slow ones at Harry's easily. Serpentine and hip check might be needed at times.

We need to have multiple dance halls in town. Then we can go back to battle of the owners. Having one try to burn down the other was very entertaining.

I've brought this up a couple times and I think the most information I've gotten was that the conversion from big box store to honkytonk would be $3 mil.

If someone hand an appetite for that, the parking is great, you'd have all the space in the world inside for a dance floor, food service, a stage, etc.

With the current price, demographics, and market conditions it does not pencil.

Is 60 the line in the sand where one becomes "creepy old guy?" If so, I've still got a few months to go and should live it up without repercussions.

Maybe, but I don't think you are going to have the vast majority of students who live on campus or right nearby in all of those high rises and also all around the Wellborn Rd areas, but probably most of all, 95% or more of the places to go out are all around NG. So most everyone, I think, just wants to go to the "one stop shop" area where they can bounce place to place; and not have to get in a car and go all the way from one side of town to the other side of town
