Not having a way to get between this new development and the center with Target would be a real design flaw. I hope the renderings just doesn't accurately reflect that there will be a road connecting them.

Looks like there would have to be a bridge over the creek.

Looking at Google Maps, Wildflower is is set up to continue behind the kid's swim place. While the creek in between there and the new development is an obstacle, I simply can't imagine them not tying in to Wildflower to get access to Briarcrest.

Man, whoever named that creek sure didn't have a favorable impression of it.

That creek runs through Camelot Park and the golf course. I used to live across the street from it (as it ran behind the houses on the other side of my street). I always called it "Briar Creek" since I lived on Briarcreek Ct. I couldn't bring myself to tell people I lived near "Sewer Creek".

2 places that look like they are being renovated, maybe they have been covered here:

1) the old Kinko's on University

2) the old IHOP on South College

Dang less than a year, right?

Seemed like they made some pretty drastic changes leaning into what people thought their model was rather than what they envisioned. They were marketing everywhere too.

They kept changing the menu. It was good but not outstanding. Service was okay.

They didn't seem to be super sure who they were or what they wanted to be

I kept looking at their menu and nothing was appealing.

Really enjoyed Varsity. Went many times but apparently it takes more than me to keep it afloat.

We had dinner there on Friday. The place seemed busy. No wait, but most tables were occupied. Sad to see it fail.

The consensus from the comments on Rusty's FB post is that it was kinda expensive for this town.

What were the prices compared to say Walkons?

Pretty comparable. Not as good though.

Apparently they gave no notice to employees. That's a crappy way to do business.

I overheard the staff at Elements on Rock Prairie talking about moving to Tower Point in the next month or two.

I saw work being done to the old Massage Envy location at the end of the strip center by Drew's. I wouldn't be surprised if they moved into that.

I've been driving by it for like 5 mths thinking "is this place gonna make it?". There always so few cars at prime eating times. Anyway it's really sad . I'm sure the owners are taking it on the chin w financial and credit consequences and of course the employees are out of a job.

I think Coopers is struggling bad also I drive by there all the time not enough cars to keep all of that overhead and make money, they built this one and the one in Katy the same time and closed the Katy location in less than a year

I went to Varsity twice. I got the lunch sirloin both times.

I thought the food was great and the service was fine. It was definitely more expensive than I like to pay for lunch, so I only went on somewhat special occasions.

My observations each time (right around noon on weekdays) is that the place was empty, and I didn't see how they would make it.

Sadly we never went. I'm more of a happy hour type person and their happy hour I think ended at 5 or before.

A lot of the comments on FB were less than stellar sadly. I do hate for any business to close though.

I believe they eventually did offer sauce? Always thought location was the issue with them, and the steadily rising cost of meat has made for tough times for BBQ places.

As a contractor who does a lot of work on restaurants and bars, and whose family was/is in the restaurant biz in SoCal, I can tell you, more fail than make it. It takes a steady hand and a good concept to make it, especially in a college town, even more so when times get tough.

We also have the added factor of former students wanting to have something here, so much so that they take risks they wouldn't necessarily take and try to manage things from a distance.

I don't know what our rates locally are compared to national averages but I would guess more fail here than the rest of the country as a whole.

Kruetz Market was BCS' first foray in to "gourmet" barbecue. You couldn't just order a two meat plate like you could at C&J, no sauce...not that it was needed...and the meat was priced by the pound and it was expensive.

A friend of mine didn't like it for the sole reason that "the sausage was weird". Never taking in to account that they made it themselves and it's not going to look like the standard link of Eckrich that you like so much.

Personally, I loved the place, but as has been said upthread, it took more than just me to keep that place afloat.

The fianc and I were just talking about this. Summers here have to be hard for the restaurant business. Sure there a lot of us adults but there are also a lot of great places to eat.
