Mentally challenged, and/or drug related, people on the streets? I really can't tell which it is, I just know I've seen almost 10 different people that had problems. Anybody else?

ah man I remember Elijah, he either worked at the Dominik What a Burger or he just parked his spaceship there
I have known him for about 30 years or more. He was not mentally challenged. He has a dgree from A&M. He worked at WB a couple of different times. His job was to wash the parking lot, take out the trash, and do minor handiman repairs. He also did marketing for Potato Shack on Wellborn where he gave out $1 off coupons and he got a few pennies if they were used that he sent to the Israel orphanage that he supported.Another Doug said:EliteElectric said:

Actually he always seemed to be a nice guy, normal looking other than the crucifix in a holster. He just hung out at that WB I believe.
Religious hermits have been going to the desert, since the time of Moses.... Each to their own calling.woodiewood said:
He comes back to town about every three years for a month or two.. You will see him mostly at Barnes and Noble Cafe.
He was a nice guy...just march to a different drummer.

Born and raised in El Pueblo de Nuestra SeƱora la Reina de los ngeles, or "LA" to non Angelinos, and my huge Greek family had restaurants all over the Mojave desert. From Hesperia/Victorville/Apple Valley area to Palmdale/Lancaster all the way to Vegas. I hated the desert as a kid and the "weirdos" that lived out there. Hated going there, being there all of it. Now when I go back to visit I genuflect and pine for "the good ole days" riding around with my Papou (grandpa) and visiting places like Scotties Castle and London Bridge.Eliminatus said:doubledog said:Religious hermits have been going to the desert, since the time of Moses.... Used to work out in the Mojave desert and you are 100% correct. Especially around the Niland, Salton Sea area. If any of y'all have a hankering to do so, Salvation Mountain is quite the spectacle to see in person. I don't know what it is about the desert but it definitely attracts a certain type of person. I absolutely have met several psycho/geniuses out there. "Eccentric" is all encompassing out there and yet seems to not quite hit the mark in several cases.
The damned thing is, I miss the desert myself. Born and raised and worked in it and I feel a draw now to go back. Not sure what that says about me really. Just gonna go smash my head into a brick wall a few times and hopefully cure me of this affliction.
