The same projects are on the board but the price projections have gone up. This alone has caused the 1/3 increase in the bond.

We live in interesting times.

These administrators have become increasingly tone deaf. They know what's best, us peasants just need to give them our money and trust them because they're far more knowledgeable than we are. That goes for schools and local governments too. Unfortunately for them they can't create inflation via money printing which is the ultimate tax increase because it doesn't require voter approval. People's pocketbooks are tighter than they've been in quite some time yet governments don't seem terribly inclined to work with less.

Bigger picture we're seeing a rapidly growing anti-incumbent movement across the entire country and even across Europe, particularly in red states in the U.S.. The general population seems to be increasingly tired of government largesse at all levels and are pushing back everywhere. This is largely the reason behind Trump as a phenomenon (forget what you think of Trump specifically), he presents himself as a populist fighting for the people against the corrupt establishment. It doesn't really matter if it's true or not, that's how it's playing out. People are tired of overbearing government yet the government seems determined to keep taking what it wants.

Meanwhile I'm certain Anderson Shiro is telling us they're seeing rapid growth and projecting even more all of which I know to be true based on some very recent analysis of that area I've seen through a project a client has in front of him. And they're going to tell us growth is expensive and it's better to get out in front of it than to wait til it's here and they've out grown whatever facilities they're trying to expand. I have no doubt all of that is true as that's playing out across the Brazos Valley but particularly in that area. CSISD is full so to speak and that and Franklin are where people are going.

Still administrators, change it up some. Demonstrate some token understanding of the citizens you serve and make cuts like everyone else is. At least try to show some respect for the people paying the bills. Or get voted out at some point. Your call.
A fearful society is a compliant society. That's why Democrats and criminals prefer their victims to be unarmed. Gun Control is not about guns, it's about control.

Everybody is feeling the pinch but growth in our area isn't slowing down much if at all. People like to gripe about spending from their local governments and municipalities but then when they don't build, these same people gripe about those same entities not keeping up and schools/services not being available when needed.

I can see getting upset about this if they were spending on something frivolous like a new press box for their football field (cough, cough Bryan ISD) but new schools, road improvements, water, sewer and electric service improvements take years to plan, implement and get completed. I see no problem with this.

It's all in the history books. Tax, tax like there is no tomorrow. No regards for people skipping meals to pay the bills.

Growing districts need schools. I totally get pushing back on ancillary things, but you have to have the actual schools. Seems short-sighted by the voters over there.

95% of the people on these boards and most everywhere on social media appear excited about the increased growth rate of Brazos County because of the restaurant and store options are more and better and companies moving in are bring in jobs. What they don't realize, or don't care about, is that uncontrolled growth causes increase traffice issues, increased crime, and or school districts being overwhelmed. Every rural school district is facing increased student numbers except for Hearne due to population growth.

Look at Snook where there is a subdivision going in down from the school that will have more than 1,000 homes and most of the home buyers are young familes.

When I was a construction project manager, I built many schools. The schools of today are not like what I went to. I did a new high school in the area I live in. It's a low performing school. It was built as a 2 story. The design of the railing on the second floor was incredible. It was almost $300/ft. 15 years ago. So, $90,000 for 300' of railing. That does not include the price to install it. Also, that's what I paid the fabricator, then there was my markup, then the GC's markup, the installer's cost.

The school, a smaller 5A, had 3 gyms. An auto shop that was amazing, a day care, a really nice dedicated theater - not the theater/lunch combos I had, plus a ton of other things. No expense was spared.

That school was far from the only similar school I was involved with. There is little reason for the schools to be frugal when planning the new buildings.

Anderson ISD resident here. I've seen my property valuations over triple in the past 6 years. The tax break the state pushed last year was wiped out plus more in a year with yet another 30% increase in valuations from last year. I'm not alone. Tax revenue is increasing with valuation since the rates aren't going down either.

Anderson ISD does have a growth issue. They need more buildings, they need additional schools, more infrastructure, etc. I won't argue with that. Growth also means a large tax base. If the skyrocketing valuations (which leads to large tax revenue) + growing tax base isn't enough, there's a problem and it's not going to be fixed by extracting even more money from the people already paying more and more every year.

Is that actual math or theory?

Anderson resident as well. Wish the bond would have passed last year at 40+ million. Now the same thing costs 60+. Something needs to happen. The current district infrastructure is overwhelmed and its only going to get worse.
