Note to self: Never will I ever buy parking tickets for that garage again. To be on the upper levels is a nightmare to leave. We got home at 2 am from the GS concert bc we sat in the garage FOREVER. Imagine 110+ people leaving at the same time. People were at a standstill in the tunnel too. I've never seen Kyle Field so packed.

It took us hour to get from 5th level. Why the didn't set up traffic flow like football game was stupid

We parked at Reed, just down Kimbrough. No issues getting out!

Did the downtown bus… went to dinner before we loaded in. It was an hour plus wait to get on around 6pm… leaving was pretty seamless though and would likely do again. 30 minutes from pick up to drop off, no noticeable traffic.

I don't think they had enough attendants working traffic control. Crowd flow in KF too needs improvement if they plan on doing anymore big concerts. The floor seats were a cluster… i could go on…

I've parked in essentially the same parking spot in WCG for football for the last couple decades. It's always pretty quick to get out for me, but then again I park in a spot that facilitates getting out easily.

Yea...traffic management was almost non-existent. Overall, the experience was good, even though it was packed.

My gripe is that there were 4 shuttles at the garage, and they were loading one at a time.
There should have been running separate shuttles for handicapped people, since it took 4-5 minutes to load the one on our bus. The lady looked really uncomfortable due to taking so long to get set.

Then the bus went through west campus, when it should have gone down Finfeather and Welborn Rd.

Same for leaving. After the 5th or 6th single load, they finally loaded 2 at the same time, and then went back to 1 at a time.

I think a 2 yr old could have done a better job. Maybe there will be a review group to look at this stuff, and modify plans for the next event, assuming there will be one. I'll volunteer to sit in if that happens.

Hopefully the university will utilize Kyle and Reed for events. It would beat having to go to the big cities, and I'm sure the local businesses like the bump in revenue.

Great post. Agreed! The Lyle L/ REK event attracted a HUGE crowd. Would love to see more concerts here.

We were on Level 4, WPG, on the "west end" of the building. Readily got to our vehicle after the concert, backed out, got in line....and did not move for almost 30 minutes!
Finally the area to our east was clearing out, we were able to move out of our line, go to the right (left turns only...hah!), and we're out of the garage in 5 minutes. Steady flow out Kimbrough, no problem.
What happened at the initial area will never be known, but bizarre that no one could/would resolve the issue.

The only blemish on what was otherwise a great event. If they do something like that again, I'll park on the other side of campus and walk to my spot to leave. Sat on 4th level of garage for about an hour without moving one inch. Finally other side of garage started moving so backed up and turned around like others to get into that line and got out within 5 min.

No excuse for that kind of delay. Football figured it out. Just have to adopt the same plan.

The pedestrian tunnel was backed with people trying to move to all points west, however, different than the football games some genius blocks off the walkway with metal gates that normally allows people to move across the front of the WPG exit so that backed up all these people to be funneled through one small gate opening to the side of the WPG. Allowing this small exit for all the pedestrians literally stopped the vehicles from existing the WPG thus the reason for the delayed vehicle exit. Agreed they need a better plan. We parked in Reed and got out of that parking lot really fast just had to wait forever coming out of the pedestrian tunnel.

Wellborn and University before and the area around WCG after the concert was ridiculous! You can be sure of one thing at any on-campus event...parking and transportation will find a way to screw up. I really don't understand why they deviated so much from normal football operations. It isn't perfect, but most if the staff is used to it at least.

We parked at CCG, and got right out just fine.

We parked at the UCG, waited a bit before walking out. Once we got to the car, it was less than 15 minutes to getting out of the garage. Could have used more police/event staff/whatever directing traffic to get from the garage to George Bush but it wasn't that long.

We parked in the South campus garage and got out in under 5 minutes. It was great.

Parked in the South side garage on the 2nd floor and it took us an hour just to get out of the garage. Total time to get 3 miles from campus to my house was an hour and a half. Went to a concert in the Woodlands the next night and it took me zero time to leave and got home from the woodlands to BCS in the same amount of time it took me to get to my house after George Straight. Next time I attend an on campus concert I'll just walk.

Edited to add- this was entirely the issue of the person directing traffic out of the garage. The side we exited out of was not being let out while the other side of the garage was emptied out fine but we were blocked in.

We parked in the surface lot (by Bonfire memorial) and walked across campus.

From the time we stood up in our seats to the time we were in bed all the way out in Kurten: 1hr.
The walk across campus is nice and traffic was minimal leaving towards the East.

For what it's worth - there were about 1500 more event goers parked in WCG on Saturday compared to a football game. During football games, level 4 and above are dorm residents who aren't mixed in with the exit plan. This played a major role in the delays emptying the garage.
