I travel all over Texas and have for years. There has not been some big change. WB has never been fast at all. I have noticed the pricing going up, but that is everyone (Laynes in BCS went price crazy.)

Quality by location has always been a bit inconsistent-almost always due to speed. The locations that take forever always have worse food-always. WB has ti be hot/fresh or it is average at best.

Rock Prairie (and to a lesser extent the Texas Ave location) have always been pretty good-fast. Tower Point has always been the worst and the newest one on Wellborn is in between.

I managed local restaurants for ten years (75 - 85) and we never did background checks.

What about you fast food freaks who frequent the 2 WB's in Bryan? We dont go very often, but the last couple of times we tried the one closest to downtown it was underwhelming at best.

Both of them have their A-team shift crews and D/F without a ton of in between. D/F crew can occasionally do the job right but not well. A-team (especially the villa Maria location) makes whataburger like I remember it ~10+ years ago which is hard to come by.

It really amazes me how much inconsistency this franchise has especially the easy things, but when it's right it's still the best fast food imo. Maybe this is biased by nostalgia though.

I agree with the poster earlier that said Whataburger has been overrated for years. It was good, but not as good as some people make it out to be.

That said, I do eat there from time to time and it def has gone downhill in quality the last couple of years.

I'm basically down to 2 places on my burger rotation. Chimys and Burger Mojo and I'm happy with those two.

(Chimys especially is a very very underrated burger)

Many visits to Rock Prairie WB. Not a single issue - they do great work!

I cringe at the long lines at Chik-Fil-A, Dutch Bros, and the TP WB. Resembles the senseless Starbucks lines from 10-15 years ago. I always think these folks just need alone time in their car because of a beat down they are taking at work or a family member is being an idiot. That would make more sense than pulling in there with things to do.

I get out and go in probably 85%of the time.
I get a laugh when I see drive thru like at Chick-fil-A tower point stretching to the feeder road
Of course I also think Chick-fil-A is about the most overrated place imaginable
But how anyone can sit in their car for 20+ minutes in a drive thru for food outta a paper bag is well beyond me

Tower Point needs to utilize the 2 lanes. When order is taken, distribute using outside lane for some orders.

But I don't think they have enough staff to man it.

Chicken precooks and holds under the heat lamp decently well. Burgers are only good fresh, otherwise you get McDonald's quality out of a warmer.

Whataburger is agonizingly slow, but they have a competitive disadvantage to chick fila if they want a half way decent
product.

If you want freshly cooked food that's of good quality and can wait 5-10 minutes, it's Burger Mojo or Fuego.

As someone who has visited the RP location many times over the years, you cannot be any more wrong. I've never once had bad experience there. Breakfast or lunch, the people are always nice and friendly. The food is always great. I've been going there since 2005. They are the standard in BCS

I don't think that I've ever sat in a Chic-fil-A line for 20 minutes no matter how long the line was.

I don't even let the line length play in my decision if I plan on going to one.

Yep. Reminds me of what Whataburger used to taste like when I was a kid.

Thing about Whataburger is, if your town is big enough to have one, it's big enough that you don't have to look real hard to find a better burger place.

Probably had the best Taquito in my life at the Texas Ave location in Bryan this morning. (The one next near downtown). Lady working the window provided great service as well.

Hubby and I ate at RP not long ago. I did not get what I ordered, I got what I assume they thought I wanted. TP has always gotten our order right, we just don't go at lunch during the week because its crazy busy. They are not the same as they were back in the day for sure.
