My son is practically begging for Santa to bring him a dog for Christmas. Does anyone have some puppies available or a young dog that is good with children? Our kids are 4 and 1, so must be able to handle grabby hands and lots of love.
We had originally adopted a basset from them and that's how we got on their radar. Not too long ago, they had a rescue pup who really needed the vet school's expertise. They asked if we would be able to foster the little guy and get him to the vet school a couple times a week. I had no idea how much we would love fostering! We currently have one foster and he is the sweetest thing. I really respect that organization and would trust them to be honest about whether or not their bassets would be a good match for the family, which is not something you can really reasonably expect from a shelter or a puppy mill.UglyScientist said:
BBRTX is great! That's awesome y'all foster for them up here. I adopted a dog from them in 2007 and he was the sweetest guy. He passed two years ago and he's still sorely missed.

This opportunity may be more than you are able to take on - two good sized dogs - but Great Pyres are fantastic family dogs, loving, protective, and typically great with kids.

I love big dogs, but we don't have the space that these guys deserve. Wish we did!PS3D said:milner79 said:

I love Great Pyres but they need a lot of space to run around, a lot of food, a lot of maintenance.
