They volunteered it as a treatment plan. At the time, I had not heard of it (very end of May). I did know about HCQ and all the press (good and bad) surrounding it.
My normal primary care doctor is with Scott & White. I went to Integrity because the rapid test is available, and no cost with A&M Blue Cross insurance.
Before presenting a treatment plan they went further and asked a bunch of questions (some of which are already on the intake form) about my medical history along with my families medical history.
When they presented the treatment plan with ivermectin, they went into a greater explanation. They talked about both HCQ and Ivermectin. They presented information on studies that were both pro and con for Ivermectin. In a nutshell, they said based on my age, medical history, etc. along with what they know about the drug; I would be a good candidate for taking Ivermectin as a treatment for COVID. There was no pressure put on me to make a decision.
Looking back, I think they may also prescribe HCQ. I did not specifically ask for it, or any medication. The way it was explained to me made me think I was a better candidate for Ivermectin versus HCQ because of my symptoms and medical history. I am making a total assumption, but it seems like they would have also prescribed HCQ if they believed that was a better medical decision to make.
