I can gladly report I was one of yesterday's reported tests that was not in the positive column. That was my first test. Hopefully my last.

Unfortunately way too many 70+ today (15 cases)... They made it this long to not get it right before the vaccine is available for them...

Hospitalizations are trending back down slowly, as are active cases.

Thursday's results include:

35 (-2) Covid ICU beds in use
-15 PCR cases today than this day last week

Spreadsheet updated, chart tab updated.

My mom lives at Arbor Oaks in the independent living condos.

They have one positive and 10 quarantined as of yesterday morning; it is scary to think we may another potential mass outbreak. Mom says folks have gotten lax about masks and social distancing because they got one of their vaccine shots.

Very frustrating. They should wait until 2 weeks after their second dose before they loosen their social distancing and mask behaviors.

It's easier to lock down, condescend and mask shame than it is to vaccinate apparently.

According to KBTX last night, there is a discrepancy of 7 between the county's death numbers and the state's, so don't be surprised to see another day where the county plays catch up. And depending how long that takes, the worse the discrepancy will get.

[We have removed a lot of posts about politics to keep this thread on topic about the numbers as much as possible in order to make those posts easy to find. We are asking posters to please post discussions about political leaders and elections on the other thread in order to keep this one on topic. This is a difficult time and that would be appreciated. Thank you. -Staff]

But ICU numbers haven't changed much at all, which says there are a lot of people who have been there for weeks on end, most of whom are likely people from the most recent nursing home outbreaks.

Not meaning to sound harsh, but they could remain hospitalized for many weeks before they are discharged, or sadly, pass away.

The stats are not in their favor.

That was pretty much my point. Those most susceptible to the virus are the ones who generally end up in ICU, and many of them remain there for weeks on end.

If one patient leaves the ICU and another immediately fills the bed, the number itself doesn't change. This doesn't necessarily mean ICU patient have been there for weeks. Most likely some have, but not all. Generally, once a patient leaves the ICU they go to a step down department like CCU or PCU. The same is true for those areas. As soon as a patient discharges, there is a patient holding somewhere in the hospital waiting for that bed.
