Maybe she didn't see my sarcasm/wink emoji and I ran her off? Hope not, I would love to hear her viewpoint!

Mrs. Chias and I are now in those numbers. I was fatigued for a day and a half. Dry throat. Cough.

Wife only symptom was loss of smell.

We're both good and come out of quarantine midweek.

Bryan/College Station combined with what A&M has done regarding the virus IS A VERY GOOD STORY TO TELL.

I'm guessing we get zero from the media outside of our area.

Frustratingly, they are just recycling the same story every day. No information in the aggregate.

It would be nice to see some sort of breakdown of the current/total numbers but that would take some time and these stories are easy and timely now.

X new cases X hospitalizations X deaths rinse repeat. Maybe we should start to aggregate from the spreadsheet and see what we can do with those numbers.

Something to remember....as we get into fall/winter hospitalizations for all types of things will rise that have nothing to do with COVID...though some of those patients will find out upon hospitalization that they have covid, thus giving the media the ability to run with 'covid hospitalizations are rising' fear porn.

And I agree completely that so far Brazos County, that welcomed back thousands of college aged students 2 months ago, is a success story.

They should still be counted as COVID cases, for data purposes. I agree though, that it's important to separate hospitalizations due to COVID from people hospitalized WITH COVID, but for other reasons.

You can count myself in the PCR rapid test positives. Got a positive test last Tuesday. Getting better each day, was flu like symptoms for 3-4 days, now just chest cough and congestion, headache and body aches.

My wife and kids went on campus Friday to get tested with the mouth swab test. Another friend took his family Friday as well. Apparently the box of tests for the kiosk Friday is lost in the mail. My family nor any of his family got test results. After a couple days of back and forth with my wife's contact through her work on campus, it was determined that the tests are "lost". Awesome...

So trying to reschedule tests, and wait again for results. Should have just done Caprock like I did and pay for it vs free campus testing.

I've been tested three times at the TAMU recc center location and each time got results within 48 hours. No wait times during testing either.

I can, and have been, tested at hospital in Houston and Drs office in McAllen and got results in less than 2 hrs

The nose (almost brain) swab

What's the difference? Why the delays?

Mine from Caprock at University/ Century Square was the nasal swab/ rapid PCR test as well. Wasn't comfortable but my flu test in January was a little worse. That one felt like sandpaper and I couldn't stop sneezing afterward. This one just made my eyes water, and had nose discomfort for about 5 minutes.

I think the delays partly are due to where the testing is performed. Caprock performs the tests on-site I believe, as she told me she had a couple tests to run in front of mine so it took about two hours to get the results. My wife tried to get the rapid test there Saturday when her symptoms went downhill fast and we were trying to decide whether to let me out of isolation to help her with the kids. Caprock said they were out of the testing primers and couldn't run any tests.

I imagine the delays have to do with where the tests are run and analyzed. I don't know where the campus tests are run. At one time they talked about running tests at the vet school, but we have the facilities over by the HSC as well, Fuji and IBio, as well as other labs in town. I don't know if they are analyzing any of the tests.

Where is the Rec Center testing location? (Not the actual Rec Center, but where they do the tests)

I'm not aware of a "rapid" PCR test, most places doing a 15min result are doing an antigen test. The antigen isn't as sensitive and can produce a negative for someone who does have the virus. The PCR is potentially too sensitive if they run enough duplication cycles and can even detect dead virus cells.

When I did it it was in a very large gym. Checking TAMU locations this week, it appears Mays Business School and Beutel are the two campus locations they are using.

The test I received was an Abbott Labs ID Now rapid PCR from the state. I specifically told the Dr I spoke with at Caprock that I wouldn't do the rapid as it's antigen based. My wife is a microbiologist and works with PCR testing in her work and we knew the antigen test has issues with false results and sensitivity. The Dr assured me it's PCR based.
