I think some folks can be really stubborn about seeking treatment for Covid; so instead of an office visit with a script for Paxlovid they have a brief hospital stay to get stablilized.

Definitely an expensive decision.

Hospitals shouldn't admit patients who don't need to be there. If that's happening then I'd place the blame on the hospital instead of paranoid Covid patients.

It often takes time to evaluate a patient as to whether they need to be there or not. At a time where there are staff shortages of HCWs. And discharging a patient who doesn't need to be there can often be quite paper-workey.

She's not saying they don't need to be there. She's saying they put it off and end up in the hospital for a night or two when they could have seen their doctor sooner and not reached the point of needing hospitalization.

And moms of young kids.

I'm wondering if they posted side by side statistics with the annual flu, would more realize that it's just another virus now? Trouble probably knows the scoop on that from actually being there.
