While I certainly don't condone stealing someone's personal property of election signs like idiots did the Trump signs in 2016, I have to wonder a.) what did the owner expect placing it in a blind spot like that, and b.) why the whole "sign stolen" stuff?

The guy with the sign is an old codger that wreaks havoc in his local HOA. Does it more to piss off the HOA than to make a real political statement. Are you seeing any other signs on that stretch of fence? Probably not, because it is against the HOA rules.

So he likes socialism, but cannot follow rules passed by a socialist organization.

I drove by there a minute ago and he's got a whole slew of Democrat signs on both corners of the fence. The Beto signs, however, are all inside of his fence and raised above the fence line.

It's pretty pathetic

So a person makes a donation to the candidate of his choice in order to get a yard sign and someone steals the sign. So the person decides to replace the sign, but has now learned from experience that they need to protect their property. How is it "pathetic" for them to do that?

How is he starting trouble? I think that it's pathetic that the guy has to do that with his signs.

Unless he's violating and HOA, then he deserves to have them taken down.

If it's the same house, there are only two small signs high on stakes behind the fence. No homemade billboard, that I saw this evening. I just glanced as we drove by after soccer practice tonight.

You don't have to make a donation to get a sign to display on your property.....at least that is the case with reputable candidates!

We were on Barron, I didn't turn to look back other than a glance, so I'm sure it's still there, I just missed it.

I'm no fan of the media at all, but that is bull crap. If the same thing happened and it were a Cruz sign or someone was continually stealing Cruz signs out of neighborhood, KBTX would do the exact same thing.

A couple of nuggets ....

The SpringBrook Homeowners Association asked Ives to remove the signs after he put them up in August. He did, but then he fought back stating it was against Texas law for a HOA to restrict residents from displaying political signs.

The HOA president tells KBTX the majority of the homeowners in that area did not like the signs on the fence. The signs are allowed to stay up as long as it is within 90 days of the election, and no more than 10 days after.


I think that this guy used to be the president of the HOA, and they had some problems with COCS during his tenure.

The injunction, which was filed in small claims court last week, accuses the Springbrook Homeowners Association executive board of committing fraud when it ran the election.

The board president, Gary Ives, declined to comment on the filing, but joined the association's board in a letter denying the allegations.

It is against Texas property code for HOAs to disallow political signs, whether they be socialist or Right Wing Nut Jobs.

Texas law prohibits HOAs from regulating political signs.

Now the guy has two smaller "Protected by Video Surveillance" (yeah, right) signs on both fences facing Longmire and Barron.

Crazy because you don't agree with his political leanings? Would it be crazy should it have been a Ted Cruz set of signs being stolen/vandalized/removed and then replaced?

What's crazy is that a person is having to replace stolen property so many times.

Right or left, the stealing of one's yard signs should roundly be condemned.

We had our beto signs stolen. The entire neighborhood was de-signed last weekend...every single one. Totally uncool. If we had a surveillance camera, we would have reported. Beto thanks you for the contribution since we bought two more. We now have our yard monitored. Be warned. Next time we will be prosecuting since this is absolutely theft, not to mention trespassing.

Beto and Cruz signs both cost $10 online and Beto's are $5 at the local Democratic headquarters. Some signs are free, some not. Probably a decision between campaign contribution and name exposure. O' Roarke and Cruz aren't worried about the latter at this point.
