But ... Boy is alleging the CIO's qualifications are suspect. He's saying there are some deep dark doings at the highest levels of the TAMU system he's personally uncovered via "Google-fu."

This isn't a derail. It's a challenge to Boy to back up his accusations.

I'm appealling to Staff now to please not let this thread get derailed like this. A LOT of people's lives are going to be affected by this hire, in ways we do not yet know.

Just sad to me that this is happening at a place that I've grown up at, went to school at, and now work for. Probably not for too much longer though.

Hate to say it, but the Eagle has been losing tons of money for years. That's why it has changed hands a number of times. Hate to see all the people at TEES lose their jobs. I have a friend that works there. Hope he gets to keep his job. Great guy.

If you don't think his credentials are good enough, what did you have in mind. the CIO for a fortune 500 company would never take a 75%+ paycut to become the CIO of the TAMU system. Should they have promoted from within? Well considering the old CIO would be the person from within most qualified, I doubt it.
How about finding a CIO from a smaller university system....perhaps, but then their qualifications would probably equate to Stone's.


Now about the degrading of him being a CPA or a hatchet man. What is it that we are looking for from government employees?

As a fiscal conservative, I am all about reducing the size of Gov. by cutting costs.

I am for smaller government across the board, not just "other people government". Can't stand 'NIMBY' folks.

And many of us can't stand "let's start cutting just to cut so later we can say LOOK AT ME! LOOK WHAT I DID!" when they leave the System to run for Governor, leaving behind a less effective organization, an organization that was being treated like a business in private industry, but can't set the prices for its own goods and services. An organization that will see top faculty and prospective students go elsewhere when the effects of cutting all of these people are finally realized.
