That's a ridiculous statement. No one can guarantee a state championship. No one can even guarantee a winning season.

College Station is clearly where the consistency is at regarding football playoff runs.

Eh. Past performance is no guarantee of future results. You've got to look at the crop of talent on the way up if you want to prognosticate.

Yes, its a bold statement, but Fedora is a Winner. No other way to say it. Every school he has been at he has produce a great product in a short amount of time. He is guaranteed to produce winning seasons if hired. He will bring a State Championship to the Bryan/College Station area. The community of College Station believes in Fedora....

Past Performance = Tradition

Fedora knows about Tradition
Fedora Knows about Consistency
Fedora Knows about Championships

Give Fedora an opportunity and he will build a new Tradition at CSHS

He hasn't even brought a state championship to Navasota....

We have had this discussion before. Just because kids have success at the junior high and sub varsity levels..that does not automatically equal success at the varsity level. I know there are alot of parents of these kids that think their little Johnny and friends are the most talented in the state because they went undefeated on the junior varsity. Varsity is a whole new game. I was at Consol under Ross Rogers in the early 90's..Bryan would beat us in subvarsity every year, usually completly dominating at the freshman and sophomor levels..but once those kids got to varsity it was a different story.
Varsity is a whole new game.
And the comment about "Fedora would guarantee your son a state championship" that is a ridiculous statment.
Look at how many talented teams are not playing this weekend. There are no guarantees

My biggest fear is that what happened to Magnolia and Bryan will happen to CSISD. It will make both AMC and CSHS mediocre in everything (with an occasional outstanding team). But, it will provide more participation opportunities for everyone. Pick your poison.

If I was on the board, my ONLY candidate would be Fedora for the new CSHS job. Who else would be a natural fit for this community? Who else knows how to win in College Station. I don't know about you all, but I don't want to see an outsider get this job.

Please note that I am NOT in any way implying that Mr. Fedora is not a good man, good coach, etc. etc. because he certainly seems to be an asset to the Navasota community, but I would hope that any school board member would be more circumspect in how they conduct a search and interview process.

To those who think that Fedora wanted his coordniators to not teach any classes you are mistaken. This was not the case. He was willing to have his coordinators teach classes.

kevmiller is right. Success at subvarsity levels means nothing at varsity level.

Don't know Fedora. Do know Kav & Pryor. Good coaches/good teachers/good men. Both treated my son well. They learned from Slaughter; who wasn't exactly a slouch; although he was a bit conservative in his play calling...

McMillian's wife is the successful head volleyball coach at Consol. Don't know if that makes a difference, but they might not want to move.

Read the post from Wendy......a football coach making DEMANDS that his coaches not teach. That says a ton. Sorry, but I pay taxes in CSISD, I don't need a coach dictating terms for him taking a job. Navasota may need to be defined by their football team, but I want value for my tax dollar, on the sidelines and in the classroom.

I don't think the BHS job has been decided. I was told nothing would happen until after playoffs.

McMillian may be a successful college coach but that is no way a measuring stick on how he'd do at Bryan High. He may know X's and O's (so did the last coach) but he has no idea how to build a "program". A program is built from the junior high, up through your JV's, to your varsity. The new coach will also be the campus coordinator dealing with the needs of all other sports, budgets, etc. I hope the admin will cast a wide net to find the most qualified candidate. It wouldn't hurt to get someone who has been "winning" lately either.

We have some seriously untapped talent for evaluating coaches on this board. I highly suspect some of them are NFL Gm's. Time to come clean.

LOL, Agsroll, so true.

And this statement:

doesn't jibe with this statement:

Y'all can't have it both ways. On the one hand, a good HC will work seamlessly to bring up young talent into the program to help develop winning teams. OTOH, y'all insist that even though CS has less talent coming up than Bryan does in the lower grades, that means nothing because CS has a "history" of playoffs.

The fact of the matter is, talent coming up DOES matter, a lot. And, a good HC will work to cultivate that talent and help shape future winning teams.

A coach with good cred would look at the playoff potential of both schools, and go with Bryan.

That said, they're both good schools and both positions are prestigious, and I'm sure many coaches out there wouldn't mind either one. Both pay close to $100,000/year. ( I know CSISD pays between $65K-$94K based on experience. )

But if they really want to win, they'll take the one with more raw talent coming down the pike, and that would be Bryan.

Well the Freshman Maroon Team beat Bryan's A Team 49-0 this past season, the Silver Team beat Bryan's B team I think 35-0 too. Half of the kids in this freshman class are yet to lose a school football game, going undefeated all the way from 7th to now.

The Bryan Freshman Blue did pretty good this year. They beat old archrival Temple. I think Antwone Wallace is a player to watch.

The other half of those freshman lost 2 games. Not exactly chopped liver. If you want to discuss middle school coaching please feel free to do so.

CSHS will not play a varsity schedule until the freshmen are seniors (and they will be 4A their senior year). They will have one shot to win a title. Turn on the TV - there are two programs that dominate both 4A divisions - Lake Travis and Aledo. Both programs are located in suburbs in large metro areas. Parents purposely move to these school districts for athletics. It's very difficult to compete against that coming out of the gate. However, I do believe that there will be people that move purposely into the CSHS zone for athletics (that currently live in the Consol zone). I live in the Consol zone and this topic is very much in discussion among parents with children not currently in high school.

I think one thing most freshmen parents agree upon is that this class isn't the one to start the separation. Could of been a really great class athletically in many sports.

Not saying the freshman blue would have won against Consol but that game was also the first game after grades came out. Most of you may not know this but the Bryan freshman lost close to 50 kids to grades this year. When they played Consol, they lost their entire offensive backfield, two offensive lineman and 4 defensive starters. Out of the 35 kids on the Blue (A) they lost 10 kids to grades and it was the really really good 10 kids.

Don't take that 46-0 game as a definitive answer that the Consol freshman are that much better. That said, they would have still beat Bryan, it just would have been a much better game.

Agsroll, yeah your right. Wasn't an excuse just a statement that went along with the talent debate. The point is there is talent but there was a reason. Pass and play, don't pass get your butt whooped. But there's still a reason.
Agsroll

I agree with you. Bryan clearly has some talented players. But these kids need to realize all that talent is useless if it isn't on the field. Actually, the parents need to realize this.

I'd love to see College Station go after a former Aggie player. Ty Branyon immediately springs to mind. He's been coaching at Bowie in Austin and has an incredible football IQ. Young guy, but someone who I know would relate to the kids and be a positive force in their lives.

Played QB for us behind Reggie and almost brought us back against OU....maybe 6 years ago?
