I've had the opportunity to partake in the consumption of burgers from several fine establishments. I think we're really blessed to have restaurants committed to bringing us great burgers locally! Here are my favorites, in order of their awesomeness:
#1 - Stover Bros. burger @ Village Foods Deli. Good gosh, nothing comes close to matching the taste of this burger on the new buns. Last time I went my SO was seriously ticked I didn't bring any home. It is really that good, and nothing else matches it locally. Thank God for Jim & Charlie Mac!
#2 - Chef Tai's Kobe burger. Yes, it's worth eight bucks from his mobile kitchen. Yes, you'll pay extra for a drink, and chips or fries aren't included with the eight bucks. Yes, I repeat, it's worth every penny.
#3 - Harvey Washbangers burger. The bun is sweet, the meat is great. This is a good burger, and even though I hate trying to make my way through the middle of CS during lunch hour, HW's is worth the trip. Good stuff.
Now, while driving out of town I do have a couple nearby places that I like:
Huntsville - Bandera Grill. Good chicken fried steak, but their burgers are my favorite menu item. If you're ever out that way, stop off at the intersection of Hwy 30 with I-45. You won't regret it.
Bastrop - the Bastrop Roadhouse along Hwy 21 as you drive into town has a great burger. Sit out on the porch if the weather is nice and watch the world go by while you enjoy your food.
