Here's another angle: if you don't want to put your pets on a leash that's fine. However if I feel threatened by these pets and I kill them in self defense then you'd better be okay with that. In other words, keep the pets on a leash for their safety as well as for others.

my cat never leaves the house without me. I go into the backyard with her. So, yeah it is possible.

It is jsut selfish to think your dog is the good dog and nothing will ever happen. BS

Are was still on this subject? Really? Now we're talking about killing leashless dogs?

I didn't realize there was a rampant dog attack epedimic in College Station.

What about all the ill-mannered bratty kids running loose? They can be worse than dogs sometimes.

As several people stated....there is a leash law in CS.

As I stated, I really dont care. If anyone else is around, she is right by my side.

Somehow the same end result is more "respectful" if we are physically connected by a rope? Get over it.

Solve the problem, if any dog comes up to you while walking/running off a leash. Crow hop kick the dog in the stomach/chest. It's not your fault you want to protect yourself.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
No, it means you are following the law instead of thinking you are too good for it.

Just to let you know, I was at the municipal court building a few months ago and a guy was in there paying his 3rd or 5th (I couldn't catch it well) citation for having his dog out without a leash. The citation was at least $135 and the guy was super pissed because he was in his front yard playing with his dog when he got the citation. He was yelling to the cashiers that he was glad he was moving out of this &*^% town because if they catch you once for this, they keep coming back and checking to make sure you follow the rules (he was much more expressive in how he said this ). I would bet there is much more to the story and that this man's dog was probably as badly behaved as he was but the moral to the story is that they do enforce this law here and it's not cheap to get a citation.

I refuse to buy a cover for my car to keep cats off...that's ridiculous seeing how we come and go all the time. However, the water hose works really great!

your animal isn't human. No matter how much you think you have it under control, it can still react. How sad to really believe you are too good to follow the law. And I hope your selfishness doesn't cause you dog to get hurt; you, okay, but not the dog.

I hope you didn't kill the animal. If so, please hold, I'll have the police at your door momentarily.

There are all sorts of ways to catch a cat ... then you take it to the shelter.

haha, my office door is not so far from yours.

The only trap I have available is a claw trap that my grandfather used to catch racoons, I guess it will work next time.

quote:
10:15a, today so, you imply that you killed an animal....

all because you were too lazy to go and buy a cover for your car, or park it in the garage? It would of only cost you $40.00 bucks for a cover, and your garage is FREE!!

idiot

Way to generalize when I spent countless hours of time and money trying to keep them out, including a $110 cover.

My final solution was to move, but now that I read your posts, I see there might have been an easier solution.

Thanks.

hmmm...I used to have a lab that was an obedience trial champion (that I trained myself). She still broke from my voice command at times...

yeah ryn..you know what the dog is thinking and how it will react at all times. Put your damn dog on a leash or walk the SOB in your back yard.

some cops won't care how well trained your dog is..they will ticket you regardless...i'm not a fan of the law either, but it's the law..and i really don't want to pay a fine.

Very easy FIX, I carry my .45 colt and dare to see ryn's dog or any dog come close to my child, I will shoot him between the eyes in front of his or her owner and not have any regrets b/c the dumba** owner thought he or she had voice control!!!!!

The difference between kids and dogs -- kids know enough to be scared of me when I tell them to get off my long and start waving my cane. Dogs either thing I want to play or that they need to win the challenge that I represent.

I hope that was a joke betas. Otherwise, you need to give your kids up for adoption before they develop... issues.

I live way out in the middle of nowhere and walk my dog without a leash (in front of houses even *gasp*). I'm pretty certain that my beagle will never ever attack anything other than a rabbit or squirrel. Anyway, perhaps you non-leash dog haters should think about finding something better to do with your time than getting pissed about pointless things, because that's a pretty stressful hobby.

LOL my children carry guns too, so they can protect themselves from loose dogs or ryn's dog.

Or we just don't like strange dogs running up to use when we are walking our own dog on a leash. Heaven forbid we be upset by something that is endangering myself, children or my pet. Just sayin....
ryn
How long do you want to ignore this user?
so we have some people that want me to die, and some people that want my dog to die, because of a leash.

lol. you guys are great. this is what makes texags great.

I can say unequivocally that my dog has never caused a danger to any of the above.

"An owner commits an offense if by criminal negligence he permits an animal to go at
large upon the premises of others or upon the streets and other ways of the City"

"'At Large' shall mean off the premises of the owner or custodian of the animal or
fowl and not under the physical restraint of the custodian or owner"

Here is the language cut and pasted from the city ordinance on-line. So doubtful anyone is getting cited for dogs in his own yard or common areas of apts/condos, etc. BECAUSE that is not a violation.

Now someone who is in their yard with dog off leash and the dog runs off after someone - When Fido hits the street, then there is a violation.

I hate idiots that think they "just know that their dog will never attack anybody"

no you dont know...and it ahppens more than you think..people get attacked or mauled by dogs all the time

I would kill a dog if I though for 1 second it was a threat to my family

dont carry a gun with me when we go walking however..maybe I should take along some hershey kisses...that will do the job

Aggie 91....Really? You don't pay attention to where you are running? Small dogs that run out in front of you are still visible...unless YOU are not watching your own feet! Bottom line LEASH LAW is there to protect ALL! Even my little dog form runners like you!

FYI: When you run, you don't watch your feet.

It's not a matter of the dog sitting in my path, it's a matter of the little dog sitting there and then will try do defend its owner by running at you at the last second.

Heck, I even have this happen when I run past people who have their little, useless dogs on long leashes... of course, that's even worse as then there is the leash I can trip over, too.
