Damn. My first gun I ever bought myself was a 4" stainless GP100 .357. I loved that gun. I actually lost it in a housefire this year. Will replace it but looks like the prices will be only going up.

Rumor is Beretta is buying Ruger out and focusing on the high volume lines.

So get your #1's while you can, they are about to quadruple in price.

Wow, just wow. Revolvers and bolt action rifles going the way of rotary dial phones?

I hope not.

Who knows? 40 years ago I thought lever action rifles were outdated technology, and people live them today

You are correct, this is a terrible time to buy. This announcement has been speculated by those in the know for sometime now.

Vaqueros have been high for quite a while. If you are going to buy for collectable investment, look for the low production models and variants.

Wonder what a 1980s era M77 in 6mm Rem would bring in today's market?

Nah Gunny, everything in my collection (that sadly was lost in a boating accident) was bought to shoot.

That's why I got into Ruger single actions. I couldn't afford the Colts due to collector value.

By the time I had money for Colts, I had come to appreciate the advantages of the Rugers. And I learned they are the best base guns for custom builds.

Doesn't it just mention their Precision line? The American series will still be in production.

I own

Ruger 1 257 Roberts- deer slayer.
Ruger Mark II target-very accurate.
Ruger Carbine 44 mag-tank and we take it every deer season but never use it.
A security 6 my mother in law has, probably loaded with a vodka tonic.
A 10/22 my kids shot a lot but dont anymore.

So, 5.

Meh…. Ruger lost my loyalty a few years back when they sold me a $1000 M77 Hawkeye that wouldn't hold a 4" group at 100 yards no matter what ammo I tried. They wouldn't warranty or take it back because 4" grouping was within their "acceptable" level of accuracy.

Ended up dropping another $900 to get it fixed at Hill Country Rifles. It now shoots .5" groups. I swore off anything that has Ruger name on it after that.

Talked to a guy tonight that has 100% insight into all things Beretta and he said they were likely going to a 25% ownership and 2 seats on the board but not buying them out entirely. Take that for what it's worth

That's a big part of why they are in this mess. Too hit or miss. They have lost a ton of single action customers in recent years, particularly since Covid. They lost a very significant portion of their skilled labor during the "pandemic".

Disappointing news to hear, I own 5 Ruger made guns, all that I've been very happy with.

I bought one of their new made Red Labels in 12 gauge when they restarted production, which I've had no problems with whatsoever, and was surprised to hear they discontinued it again after just a few years. Then I saw they restarted making it again a year or two ago, but only in 20 gauge. Just seemed to be all over the place with that gun.

Sorry to hear that. I know some of their barrels were questionable in the late 80s, but my RPR was a tack driver right out of the box.

Yea I was pissed that they wouldn't do anything about it. Tried several times to get them to do something. Hill Country Rifles did their magic on it and now it shoots lights out but it cost me double to get it there. Taught me a lesson for sure. Don't think I'll ever buy another "off the shelf" rifle again. Anything I do from now on will be custom. Funny thing is, now it is probably my favorite rifle and I have confidence in that gun. I have no problem with it and wouldn't hesitate to stretch it out to 4-500 yards if the opportunity presented itself on a hunt. I'm that confident in it. But I will NEVER buy another Ruger product again. Burn me once, shame on you.... burn me twice, shame on me.
