Last weekend of March is probably what I would choose if I were going to risk it.

Read my mind exactly. 100% of better snow late March usually than early December. Even aspen does $50 early Decembers tickets and they scare the **** out of me when friends ask for them.

Im def snagging some of those. Hella thanks my guy.

Took mine to wolf creek for their first time. Ski school is top notch. For the price of lodging ski school and all that goes along it is hard to beat. Also the crowds are not had bad as other ski in ski out slopes. .

Stay on the mountain side of town and beat the crowds to the mountain

I go both times of year now. Yeah, might as well get another set later in the year at that price. The December is a gamble but I'm the holiday cover guy at work so the last 2 weeks are not an option.

Groomed rollers are where I stay that time of year. With the snowmaking now it's a fun ride. Just normally groomers which can still be fun especially if they hard pack w light weekday crowds. You can burn turns. Late March you have more prospects for deeper pow days. Any day on the hill is better than the office.

Unless it's like last year in the northern rockies and it's too damn warm to make snow.

We're heading to Vail the week before Christmas. Lift tickets weren't a bad as I was expecting, but wow ski school for the kids was mind blowing. We'll probably try to make another Wolf Creek trip sometime and let them do ski school there for a quarter of the cost. We're staying in a house by the Grand Hyatt so I'm praying for enough snow for their lift to be open!

Anything you guys would you to know or ask before the season starts? Gear? Lift tickets/passes? Ability level and ski choice/shape? Ski care? Anything

We got 2 months before open.

Going to be in Purg over new years and will need lift tickets. What's the best play? Just buy direct from them now (the cheapest/ furthest out possible) or do you have pro tips?

Intermediate skier but mostly stick to greens with a few blues based on how adventurous my kid is feeling. Like getting into some minor stuff on the side, not commonly found deep in the trees. Never hit park. Try to avoid moguls because who the hell actually enjoys moguls? Ski western US but plan to hit Japan and Europe, possibly S America in next few years.

Looking for a do-all ski.

Power pass has no blackout options that could make sense depending how many days, and the free kids pass has no blackout, if you have kids

The wife and I are taking the kids to Frisco Co and going to try and teach them how to ski this year (thinking copper mountain).

It will be our first time.

Does anyone on this thread have any tips for Skiing with little ones?

Copper is great for that type of trip. They have a ski school and lodge at the very far west side of the mountain with a super short parking lot walk (paid parking of course - I think it was $20/day two years ago).

The west side of the mountain has most of their greens, very skiable terrain for you and them.

We have skied a number of places in CO and the family put Copper near the top each time we talk about the trip.

They also have a small sledding hill in the "center" part of the mountain. Think it also has a small lift for beginners in that area but don't quote me on that.

Patience! They'll hate it. And then love it. And then hate it. And love it.

Make sure and get them off the mountain when they love it. I wore my kids out the first time and it was hell trying to get them back out there. They had a blast and we left early and all they wanted to do was go back.

Get used to this. Carrying two sets of skis, a back pack that fell open and your water bottle is rolling down the sidewalk. Just have to smile.

Nice, great ages to start. I'd say put them both in full day group ski school for at least 2 days then maybe half days (mornings) if you have more days and want to ski with them in the afternoons. One of my happiest moments ever was taking magic carpet runs with my oldest after his first day at ski school. And like another poster above said, don't push it. 2 or 3 days is probably plenty for their first ski trip, go sledding and swim in the hotel pool, etc...

One thing we did with my oldest two (6 and 5 last season) was full days then into half days their first season. Last year we set them up with half days privates and would pick them up at lunch and cruise greens all afternoon.

It was a really good progressive approach. They were jumping on and off chairlifts last year by the end of our trip, great S turns and speed control down greens and even were able to get off the beginner terrain lift and ski an easy blue with us without much drama.

I really like the half day lesson approach because I can wear myself out in the bowls in the AM then come get them and chase them around easy front side stuff the rest of the day

The purgatory pass and ski 12 both include 10 days at Nevado in Chile for free and kids under 12 ski free. Not a bad deal.

Just saying you'll have a place to stay and who doesn't love skiing in the summer and fall….

The Lima LATAM club is NICE!

2 flights and 11 hours to go.

Made it to Santiago. 8:30 am helicopter to the slopes (it's 8:03 right now). Should be skiing by 10:30.

18 hours of travel and counting but se vale la pena. Gonna be here filming for Amer until Sunday and then off to the coast and then the desert. Best part of the gig - we didn't have to bring anything but boots, helmets and clothes. Gonna be test riding the new Atomic/Armada/Salomon lines.

120 cm base and over 220 at summit. Should be an amazing couple days to slide w amazing weather. It's 30 right now with a high of 41. Blue sky w just a couple clouds. Perfect weather for filming.

Let's ****ing go!

I posted this last year and it's available again this year. Just got the $76 kids passport for my son which includes a total of 76 days of skiing and a couple days of ski rentals through Christy Sports. Crazy good deal!

Need to replace my insulated bibs and jacket. Bought the Mountain Hardware Firefall set last year, and I'm not fat anymore.

Suggestions?

Whistespace 3L or 2L bibs, Helly Hanson, Acertyx or Obermeyer.

White space isn't cheap but very good quality product. New to the market so not a huge following at the moment. That will change over time.

Soo we decided after our trip to come down early season next summer. Gonna spend all of April and May here and then probably July/August as well.

Can't say how much I love this country. So cheap too. Our monthly rental directly on the beach is less than $1,500 a month.

That's a week's rent in Glenwood/Vail.

8 inches expected in Vail this week 4/5 have already fallen. Snow guns are firing. It's officially that time of year. Ay ay ay ay ay!
