Has anyone here heard of the site? My scam senses are up, although the site looks legit.

11 and 13 year olds can shoot 20 gauge semi. There a number of kids same age shooting 12 gauge. Don't rush them into it and you will get long term use out of 20 gauge.

If budget about $2k then go for the A400 20 gauge.

If about $1k. Then go the A300 20 gauge.

I love our benelli montefeltro and start all new shooters on it no matter the size and age. We have two. New price on them have gone up to $1500 or so. You can find used ones in $1300-1400 range.

Personally I'd stay away from Yildiz. If you want an over/under spend the extra an get a silver pigeon.

Weatherby has good options.

They are going to mount the gun incorrectly and you want the softest shooting gun you can get. Silver pigeons are heavier than Yildiz so felt recoil is less with silver pigeons.

this is where I started my boys

well, he was able to knock down a fair number of birds considering his first hunt and challenging conditions. finding them, however....less good at that. and based on the number of empty boxes, the recoil didn't impact his quantity of shots. all in all, a good experience for him and he's ready for more.

Mossberg makes a 28 gauge semi auto. Co worker got one when he was having some neck/shoulder issues. Shot great and he loved it. After he recovered from the injury he ended up selling it to a co worker who was going to use it for his 12 year old son this year.

I bought this gun for my boys; wish I hadn't. Mine is picky about cycling ammo; the trigger was heavy and rough. I paid to have it worked over by a well-known gunsmith, and it is better but not good. I personally think for a lot of reasons that a 28ga gas gun is the best youth option but this aint it. I should have bought the Beretta, which was $1K more, but I could have upgraded the stock and had a full-size .28 gauge for dove hunting.

I will clarify that as an adult it is a perfectly fine gun, but for young kids the trigger and feeding issues make it a little bit of a challenge.

Lastly, I am a shotgun snob.
