I'm working in areas around the state where cell reception is pretty hit & miss.

I see a lot of the antennas on trucks and probably should get one. Does anyone have a recommendation on a good one, or ones to avoid?

Only one I ever used was a weboost. So nothing to compare it to. We had one in a couple company trucks and one for our office. The one in the office worked the best because we could point it at the nearest cell tower. Vehicle ones worked well also, but couldn't direct the antenna so wasn't as good for our entire jobsite.

I only point that out to say there are limitations.

I used a Wilson amplifier for many years on the road in my business because I was in so many places with zilch cell phone service.
Wilson is WeBoost now.
If you are using it in a vehicle, antenna placement location is important so that you have as large a "ground plane" as you can get.
In other words place the outside antenna at the center of your truck cab or car as close as reasonable…..instead of on one side or the other.
Also remember it has to have some signal to amplify. It can't amplify a signal if there isn't one.
I've used them for about 20 years and have them in both my trucks now. They work well.

don't mess around with weboost. just get a starlink mini.

While it seems kind of silly and ridiculous at surface, this would be your best bet.

I've got both. Starlink Mini requires a fee but it also depends on where you are as it has to get the signal.
In areas with a lot of tall trees around/close to a highway I have found it to lose signal. Also going under some bridges and especially the older metal suspension type of bridges like on IH-10 at Baton Rouge it loses signal.
The other issue I've experienced with the mini is if you travel a lot and use it daily you eventually have to secure it.
Laying it on your dash is fine until you make a hard turn or such and throw it off.
Using and trying both I still prefer the weboost for simplicity and reliability….but maybe just depends on where and how much you are going to need it.

get a starlink and connect via wifi.

I am investigating currently.
I already have a regular Starlink, didn't know about the Mini. West TX, and the panhandle should not be on the same coverage map that ATT/Verizon etc advertise.

If you are in open country you will like the Starlink mini if you are ok with paying the monthly fee. You will also need to order the 12 volt adapter to power it.
As I've said I have both. I live in the Ozarks in tall trees and hills and the mini will drop out signal. In that respect the WeBoost works better.
I use the mini also in my boats on the lake. It works well. Main issue is the mounting of the rectangle antenna.
I worry about theft of it just lying on the dash of my truck so I always hide it when I am going to be parked a bit.
That's my two cents.

Furlock B. Said it first about the Mini. Another very positive on the Mini is you can use it for a bunch of other stuff besides phone calls…..wi fi anywhere!

You may want to check your emails. Starlink recently offered me a mini for free since I am a long term customer.

They did the same for us. Of course you still have to pay the monthly plan fee to use it.
