We used to hunt out of homemade blinds that my grandfather made out of 60"-72" corrugated metal pipe. had 4-5 small windows around it, my ears start ringing just thinking about shooting out of those blinds. I won't shoot a high caliber without a suppressor anymore, and my boys rifles also have had suppressors since day one.

Just try to relax best you can. I've been right there. It can cause great anxiety and panic. Thing to remember is those emotions will also increase it as you go under more stress.
When I have an episode I turn to Jesus to help me. I ask verbally for his help and start deep breathing exercises. In a bit I will feel his strength and start calming.
I'll pray for both you and texags92.
We all can beat this.

Bingo. Jesus said that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and no one comes to the Father but through Him.

I like being able to hear the brush crash when the deer falls. Helps with the tracking.

Suppressors helped me get my daughters into shooting and hunting.

I have a Kimber .223 with a fluted bull barrel. Had it threaded and with the can on it there is zero recoil. Both my kids love to shoot it. My oldest daughter is 13 and she has been practicing with the .243 for her first deer this year. It's also suppressed.

Thank you Gunny for your insight on this! I am 45 and have bad tinnitus, and I often think about how I'm going to handle it as I get older and if it gets worse. It is deafening sometimes, and I have found it increasingly hard to concentrate. I am definitely going to schedule an appointment with the doctor you mentioned. The others I've been to basically said I have to just deal with it.
I appreciate your knowledge about this and just about anything you comment on!

I can so much relate to your anxiety and worry. I can also suggest looking on the American Tinnitus Association website.
Of course they ask for donations for research but there is good information on the site.
I'll attach the link below.
Main thing is to stay busy and active. Every day that you live with Tinnitus helps the brain habituate to it.
Keeping something to make "white noise" at night in your bedroom, like maybe a fan or some relaxing sounds like rain, waves on a seashore can help get to sleep.
Just remember you're not alone in this.

If it wasn't for a fan on each side of my bed…sleeping would not be an option. And yes staying busy helps and avoiding quiet places. I was in a doctors office the other day with my son, and it was almost silent in the room…had thoughts of jumping out the window. Problem was it was only the second floor

I bought a very small cube looking bedside clock that can play a variety of "white noise" sounds while I sleep. Well, actually, my wife bought it. She doesn't like it quiet at night. So it was a win / win situation for me AND her. It will play rain sounds, sea shore sounds, etc. It actually has helped me quite a bit. Found it on Amazon.
