Any recommendations on one over the other? Looking at a Recteq Backyard Beast 1200 or Traeger Woodbridge Pro.

I am looking as well. I too had focused on those but a buddy has a Weber that has really good reviews.

Will you smoke more or grill more? If primarily smoking? Looks like the ReqTeq and Traeger are better for smoking and the Weber for grilling due to sear capability although the Weber has good reviews for smoking as well.

I absolutely love my recteq - had owned cheaper pellet smokers before and they had issues. Even got my neighbor across the street to convert to recteq because he kept having issues with other brands.

I have a conventional Weber also. And a gas grill. And a blackstone. I love having the ability to cook exactly how I want to at any time. This is the OB way.

RecTeq fan here too - but not what you'd think.

I prefer over my smoke stone over my old blackstone!

And the X-Fire can smoke and grill, more grill than smoke. Like pellet powered propane high heat grill

I have a GMG for smoking. Jim Bowie model. Had it years and it's been flawless.

I have a blackstone griddle so definitely looking at more for smoking capability, but I do like that it can get to high heat if a sear is needed.

I have a Green Mountain Peak Prime 2.0 Wi-Fi and its been nails. Smokes well but also can get hot enough to cook steaks at 500 degrees.

Rec teq for sure. Customer service is top notch. Grilla grills was a close second for me this time around. I'm on my second one.

I can't tell you anything about the Traeger, but I can tell you that I absolutely love my Recteq. It keeps very consistent temps, does great in cold weather, and puts out really great smoke for a pellet smoker. I also use a smoke tube, but that's just preference. Recteq has absolutely fantastic customer service. That goes a long way with me.

Edit to say I have no idea where that dumb emoji icon came from. Must have hit something on my phone before posting.

Another happy rec teq buyer here. Going on 10 years with zero issues.

Just make sure to put the handles on the opposite sides upside down (horns down)

I considered the Traeger Westwood XL but decided against that one. For me it came down to the Recteq Bullseye Deluxe 380X and the Weber Searwood 600. I bought the Recteq, in part bc I already had Weber Genesis 2 and wanted to try something different. Also it got up to 400+ degrees quickly, so I figured it would be good for quickly grilling chicken and fish.

The Weber gets up to about 600* and the Traeger to about 450*, and increments of 5* according to AI). The Recteq can reach super high temp, about 1,000* (not necessary, but it does heat up quickly with a high setting), but the lowest numerical setting is 225*. However, if you put it on low, it will be about 200*. The temp increments are 25*. The Weber has a low setting of 180*, which is a nice option, and it has tighter temp increments at 10*.

All three of these grills are largely digital/elctronic. So I considered their warranties including electronic components.

Warranties:

Weber- 5 years, but 3 on electronics.

Recteq- 4 year bumper to bumper.

Traeger- 7 year limited warranty, but 1 year on igniter, power cord, RTD sensor and meat probes.

So far I am happy with the Recteq.

I've had my rec tec 680 for over 8 years, 2 years past my warranty. I think it's the original design.

I've leave this dang thing exposed to the weather the entire time. My control panel rotted out from sun damage a couple of weeks ago. Called them up last week to purchase another one and they're sending me another panel, free of charge. I didn't even ask for a discount nor expected a free one! $200 saved. This one will have WiFi control, my original did not.

You can't beat that kind of customer service. They know what kind of things their customer base appreciates and they do that very well.

New Treagor owner here but very disappointed in customer service. The operator manual that comes with the grill i purchased has suddenly went missing as kids used it last. Being new and old i like having a paper colored manual as i learn the functions of the grill. Contacted Treagor and told them i needed another due to negligence on our part and offered to pay for it. Answer was the generic manual comes with each grill sold and replacement is not available at any price. After much bantering back and forth they said to go online only or print off the online manual which is 40 pages but no replacement is available. Was told if i had to have one of the original manuels to buy another grill. If they are such jerks about a generic paper manual, how are they going to respond on a warranty issue that i do not offer to pay for. I am old school and like paper magazines, newspapers etc vs online digitall content. Wishing i would have went with another brand that understands customer service.

I have had both and my recteq is the best I have owned. Holds temp and cooks even throughout the smoker.
