It helps me understand better for certain. I always appreciate when you reply, Sir! I take some of this stuff for granted not having bought a new boat and started from scratch in the past. Most of our rigs were used and setup well enough when we picked them up.

Of course, who knows what could be tweaked to make them better? It is helpful to know these things. Our hole shot is really excellent presently with the 225 SHO that has been chipped to 332 and accompanying TRP lower unit, so I am kinda in the "If it ain't broke" camp. Although, to be honest, the saltwater version should be "When it breaks, I will fix...."

I'll bet that flashed 225 SHO coupled with the TRP gear case is the GOAT! Awesome!

Yep, it will get up with 5 guys when the hull is completely sitting on a soft mud bottom. Please do not ask how I know. We were gonna push our way out, but thought, why not try it? Was not even a strain.

In normal operation she is an absolute blast to run and fish from and we love her for what we do. In reality, the fishing is a bonus. Spending time on that boat makes my soul happy, running it through all the POC back lakes and the sights you see there. I wish my Grampa could have ridden on it with me just once. I would give a lot for that actually. He taught me to fish at the coast, but we always had junky freshwater boats that didn't perform like what the modern ones do and weren't maintained well with work, church, and family obligations being much higher on the list. We got by, and loved it, don't get me wrong. But this is like a bicycle vs ferrari comparison. He and my Dad instilled a love for saltwater in my soul.

Understand completely! Your Majek Illusion is a damn good boat. I know the Majek brothers really well. Since they built their first boat actually. Great guys. Have worked many a show together. Personally I think they build the best flats boat out there.
Some may be faster but only because they don't have a lick of flotation and not much glass lamination.

I've been cruising with my new 20" 200 and noticed a weird V shaped spray and would love your take.

Below is a pic, but it's hard to see the water. I didn't have the V spray with the longer 150. Is this a bad sign?

It's not a bad sign.

Ideally, while running at a good cruise speed on plane… you want the anti ventilation plate (sometimes wrongly referred to as the cavitation plate) to be slightly above the water level leaving your running surface of your hull.
It's hard to make a accurate definitive assessment without me seeing and running the boat, but from what I can see in the pics,
it appears, in my limited opinion only, that the engine needs to be raised just a little bit….as I can see the leading edge ( the part closest to your boat transom) of the anti ventilation plate under the water…which is causing the spray.
Make real sure to always keep an eye on your water pressure gauge whenever you raise the engine.

That was my thought too. Was going to ask what it does with a slight bump up on the plate.

Were your ears ringing yesterday? I had a long conversation with a guy about Cats. In particular Glacier Bay. Tried to explain to him the ride quality but he would have nothing of it. I almost called you and was going to let you talk with him but he was to the point of being obnoxious….he had way to many margaritas in the heat

Not sure of his stance but there's some long-standing reputations that held true when the boats were underpowered with old 140s and no permatrims. The new way of rigging them with 200s and the use of permatrims changes a lot. Propping differences seem to make a huge difference in ride and performance. Way more than Ive seen on a V.
