Well site rules and moderation policy also state that if you have a problem with a thread you should flag it for moderator attention.

Cold water shrinks your fingers. I remember I was diving in the Caymans and reached out for a shell, I saw my platinum wedding ring come off my finger, and hover in the water just below the tip of my finger. I was able to close my fingers around it, but damn it was close.

Silicon ring from here on out. And it doesn't get beat up at the gym or at the ranch.

I didn't know it was a thing to swim with an aggie ring on, let alone getting in a natural body of water. The aggie jokes write themselves.

Lost mine in the river once and was lucky enough to recover it after about a 20 minute search effort.

Appreciate it but its all good. You have to remember your Kipling when dealing with some people and "… make allowances for their doubting too…". I can see why they thought that but I also know from almost 28 years in the fire service that some people wake up in the morning and can't wait to complain about something, anything.

I stated who I was and my competitors (friends) that I trust to give the ring back.

I can not emphasize enough that when you blast your lost anything on social media you are simply ringing the dinner bell for the pirates.

For those who are interested. I am the New Braunfels Metal Detective and I am a retired professional firefighter. I do personal training and teach boxing classes along with the recovery business in retirement. Ryan Prigmore from Blue Diver Recovery is a friend of mine (talked to him last night actually about a job) and he does this full time, all over the nation. I would like to do that also, eventually, if possible.

I charge 20% of the value of the item up to a maximum of $200 for local jobs. (NB, SM and surrounding areas.)

I state this because it is the FIRST question asked so let me just get it out of the way.

BUT…all of this can be avoided by simply taking off your jewelry!

Be well

PS-the forum will only let me post X amount of times in 24 hours so to answer Jason Roofer, yes, that's me. Appreciate it

Absolutely. 100% agreed.

Hell, there is a Ski thread that is a running advertisement for a poster to profit from.

Exactly! Why anyone gives this guy any credibility is beyond me. He's the same guy that was preaching to us "ignorant Texans" to stay out of Colorado during covid.

Before some of you say anything about charging fellow Aggies, let me know when you use an Aggie lawyer, engineer, builder, mechanic, electrician or Aggie plumber (yes, they exist) and they fix or solve your problem for free. This is what I do and I am very fair about it.

This times a billion. No one works for free and the job costs money. Personally, if I understand your pricing, we're talking about potentially losing $100 for not finding the ring and up to $300 if you do. $300 bucks to recover a 2,000 dollar ring seems like , well, stupid cheap. Maybe others are different but I'd pay way more than that to find THE ring I was issued after clawing and scraping to earn it.

I'd say if anyone complains, send them packing.

I hope I never need your services but if I do, you'll be my first call.

Friendly reminder that if you want this thread to live and you want to help people, remove everything related to your business pricing and self promotion, and buy a basic subscription with an Ag Tag so folks can PM you directly. They will be able to reference this post when they lose a ring and Pm direct and you can get in touch that way without getting Staph Booted.

Why do some posters get so wound up if they percieve anythign to be some kind of ad? I can understand if you work for texags (maybe they do), but outside of that - let texags handle it if they feel the need to.

Whenever the "THAT'S AN ADD!!!!" posters show up, I picture them as the ******* in the HOA that drives around looking for grass that's 1/4" too tall or some other nonsense because they have nothing better to do with their life than to spread misery to others.

I have a buddy in NBFD who grew up at Canyon Lake marina. As a kid he would dive down and tie a rope or whatever to dropped outboard motors and retrieve keys and such for tips. He said he made a killing doing it.

My family homesteaded a ranch on the Guadalupe River by Spring Branch. I was born and raised on the place and grew up there. I have lots of kinfolk in NB. Might know him.

I thought that was the same guy but the handle changes are hard to keep up with. I just see all the ticket scalping he does.
