Boat Towing Insurance Question

How long do you want to ignore this user?

Let's say I was stranded on the bay due to motor failure, paddled/drifted to a boat dock to avoid swamping in wind/waves, but still need to reach the nearest boat ramp a mile away to trailer it to a mechanic. Will on-water towing insurance cover this? Or will they decline coverage due to the boat already being in 'safe harbor'? Any OB boaters with expertise or experience in this?

Not sure who you use, but I have TowBoat US and the plan I have would cover it.

Quote:

Towing assistance to a port of choice within the responding Service Provider's Service Area when a Covered Vessel becomes Disabled on the water while being operated. As an alternative to towing, where available, the Member may receive a jump start or delivery of fuel, engine fluids, or basic engine parts to avoid a tow.

Does the policy say their obligation is limited to get you to the "neared safe harbor"?

Going to need to check with your individual insurance company if going that route. I have seatow and I know they'll tow you to a mechanic from your dock, so I'm sure they will.
