Getting the itch to add 10mm to the arsenal next. I'm partial to the 1911 platform but curious on the OB opinions.

If you decide on a Glock 20, I have a lightly used one I'm thinking of selling. I also have an optic cut slide for it

I had written Kimber off until earlier this year when I ran across the comp X hunter railed in 10mm. I am now about 750 rounds through it and have had exactly 2 stove pipes and that's it and both were with ammo I half way expected it (anemic Winchester white box). I highly recommend it and it is extremely accurate!

If I'm remembering right that target was shot at 15 yards, the top two have 9 rounds each (1 mag). Then the other targets each have 27 rounds (3 mags). With position of the ammo representing which target was shot with what ammo. I have since tried the sig target ammo among and a few others and hands down sig is the best grouping in this gun.

I would have to break it down into two categories....either standard 5" barrel 1911 platform or 6" barrel longslide 1911 platform.

If talking typical 5" barrel 1911 Platforms my order of preference would be:
1.) Dan Wesson RAZORBACK
2.) Colt Delta Gold Cup SS (Manufactured in 1989-1993, then again from 1995-1996)
3.) Colt Delta Elite Manufactured 1987-1996 (Would not own a Colt Delta Elite built after 2020)
4.) Kimber Comp X Hunter - I have been very happy with my Kimbers.
5.) SIG 220 Legion 10MM

If I was looking at a longslide model 1911 platform definitely my preference would be hands down:
1.) Dan Wesson BRUIN or the Dan Wesson KODIAK

Im probably looking 5"

I see you are a DW fan. Thoughts on their Specialist? Looks like a slightly more loaded Razorback to me.

I am a DW fan. I have never owned a Specialist nor knew anybody that had one to give an opinion. I think, but sure could be wrong, that they stopped making the Razorback and kinda replaced it with the Specialist that had more features. Then they brought the Razorback back out because of the price point.
I agree with you. I would think the Specialist is an upgrade from the Razorback and would be a one fine handgun. You might have just made me need one too!!

S&w pc m&p 2.0 is on my short list. G20 is with a consideration as well, especially since I believe this ammo was developed for it https://www.lostriverammocompany.com/product/10MM-200-Grain-Poly-Coat-Hardcast-Flat-Point-100-RND

I've got a G40 with a Holosun green dot. Lots of fun to shoot, recoil is very manageable.

Once upon a time, for a short while, CZ Customs would did 10mm conversions on CZ-97Bs. Sadly, by the time I had saved up enough cash, they had stopped.

I do love my CZ-97B. And 10mm.

So I bought an EAA Witness, just for gits and shiggles. So far it has run well.

Own the tri tone Dan Wesson kodiak and it's amazing, I just wish it wasn't single stack. There are some good double stack 1911 style 10mm out there, can't remember off the top of my head what they are though. I think it was just under 2k when I got it a few years ago, and it wasn't easy to find.

2011s tended to run 10MM better than 40, long long ago.

Not sure how it is, now.

Frankly, the 40 is a good choice.

I preferred the 29, over my 20s, but eventually switched to 21s.

Hot damn that is one nice gun! You should cherish that one. Know what you mean on the single stack…..but you got 8+1. For that quality a handgun I'll learn to put another magazine in fast!

The Tanfoglio Witness is a heck of a gun in 10mm!

I have always been a Kimber fan. Owned a few models and my last purchase was two Gold Match 1911 frame's in 9mm. Had to shoot them a lot to finally get them to wear in and quit stove piping. Other than that I really liked them like the others before.

I've always been half tempted to buy a BRNO PSD and the 10mm conversion for it.

But its way, way, way down the line of gun priorities for me right now.

I own several 10mms, and the old timers here know it's my favorite pistol cartridge. Probably started with watching Miami Vice as a kid. My Delta is a customized 1986 model, and my Kimber Stainless Target II is one of the first 1000 10mms Kimber ever made. I ordered it when they were taking pre-orders for them around 2002. I've done custom work on it, too, and it's easily the best shooting pistol I own. With that said I carry and shoot my Glock 20 the most. High capacity, added custom adjustable night sights, and it's just super accurate. It's a great truck/ranch pistol, and I've shot several pigs with it for instant lights out every time. I shoot 200gr XTP reloads in all of them, doing about 1200fps. I hope you reload bc the ammo is expensive.

If you're itching for a 10mm, you're definitely not alone. That round is a blast, and a 1911 in 10mm just feels right to a lot of people. I don't have one yet, but I've been poking around and reading a bunch of GunBroker reviews on various 10mm 1911s and other platforms to get a feel for what real buyers think about reliability and fit/finish. Seems like there are solid options out there, but everyone has slightly different priorities (carry vs range toy, weight, size, etc.). Worth reading through the seller ratings and feedback too, so you get a good sense of what folks are actually happy with before you pull the trigger on one yourself.

I've got a Tanfoglio EAA Witness Elite Match (stainless) with an RMR. Got it new from EyeGuy a couple of years ago. Im considering moving it since I haven't used it in quite some time and I would like to fund something else. I probably dont even have 50 rounds thru it. Ill make a deal on it if there's interest.

I have a Glock 20 that I got on a trade that included a puppy on the OB. Previous owner I think shot it competitively. It came with two barrels and four magazines. I love shooting that thing. I bought a .40 wolf barrel for it too and it makes it to the range relatively regularly. You know when you are going to the range to work on something and you think 'I should bring another gun' it's usually the one that goes.

It's surprisingly easy to shoot. I was expecting it to recoil similar to a .357 but it doesn't. It's much more controllable. It was hanging up a little bit so I replaced the recoil spring about a week ago. He had some big thick recoil spring in there that looked nothing like its stock replacement. Guessing that and isolating whichever magazine will fix that problem. Im actually waiting on a 10mm shipment to arrive to find out.

Love that gun.

One big problem with .10 is finding factory loadings that are not loaded to .40. Mag tech and Sellier seem to be more powerful than Federal and other US made stuff.
