Had a pair of pheasants showed up on my porch today in south Parker Co (south part of Aledo) The male was beautiful. My inlaws have been here since they were born & my father in law doesn't recall ever seeing any here. How rare is this??

I'd post pics but I'm not paying to TA.

You have any released bird hunts near you?

Don't think so. We are pretty surrounded by suburbia. But the father in law thought the same thing.

Most likely escaped from a pen, or released for a hunt nearby.

Last ringneck rooster I saw was 5-6 years back. Walking just off the shoulder of Hwy. 41 near Garven Store, Edwards County.

Second it's probably a release from a hunt club. Up here in Cooke County we had a male running around our place occasionally, and heavens only knows when there was a wild pheasant around. But there is a hunt club couple of miles up the road, so I guess he was a smart (lucky) one

Probably released on purpose. I released 50 of them a while back to see what would happen. For several montbs Facebook would have a post of someone not believing their eyes. unfortunately it only lasted about 6 months before I never heard a peep about them again.

I didn't think they would naturally be here. It was a little wild seeing them. I just happened to look out my front door & there they were. Pretty cool to see.
