I have a mower/blower/trimmer all in the EGO line - all 4+ years old.

Two of my batteries - 2.5ah and 5.0ah are flaking on me now.

Anyone have any experience with any of the off-brand replacement batteries?

i watch reddit.com/r/egopowerplus and most of the time the amazon knockoffs get pretty good reviews. Most say they're not really rated to what they say they are but are close enough for the price

Very happy with mine.
I will no longer discuss politics with you. I reject your premises and world view. I am finished trying to compromise with you.

I'm in the same boat on my EGO batteries. All I can say is:

Don't do it, especially the ones from Amazon. Either buy brand out go back to gas.

So after spending around 1000 to replace gas he should spend another 1000 to go back because he has to replace a couple of batteries?

OP I'm in your situation and I just bought my first after market battery. But I haven't had it long enough to know if I should have bought EGO authorized ones.

Actually, yeah... 4 years. If I had gone all in I might try the after market batteries.

I made the mistake with just the mower fortunately and still had gas blower and trimmer. 4 years on the battery. Finally back to gas all around this year and still mad about that mistake. 15 year old Stihl still going great for the other stuff.

7.5AH battery and still had to push the mower most of the time to be able to finish the yard in one charge. Forget one charge if rains made me delay a couple days. It's so nice to be able to have a mower that I can actually use all of the features for again.

That's fair. To each his own. I just prefer the simplicity of battery. No carb or spark plug or gas, or dirty engines. Charge and go.

Not sure if this helps but I paid $62 for this one in April and am really happy with it. It is showing unavailable now though. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0CTSF6T28?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

I'd like to introduce you to the carbs on some of my yard equipment that uses Dino juice.

When I was a kid mowing/edging lawns, small engines like Briggs and Stratton were curse words. The maintenance on gas powered equipment is far higher than electric. I love my Ego stuff.

I bought an Ego mower and the cut was ridiculously horrible. I returned it.

I have an Ego blower and it worked fine until it didn't. It was still under warranty. The only repair shop that would do Ego warranty work was 45 miles away.

Carbs on gas equipment are not that big a deal. Use ethanol free gas and you shouldn't ever have a problem. If you do, swapping out a carb is easier than cleaning it, and new carbs for small engines are dirt cheap.

You can't do any work yourself on Ego equipment if it fails.

Obviously anecdotal but had a friend who's garage caught on fire by cheap Amazon batteries that were charging.

It's always interesting to see differences of opinion and personal experience.

I absolutely love my Ego mower, and despite owning blowers, string trimmers, edger, bush trimmer, and mowers…….some of those for over a decade………. I've never had to have a single repair. Well one……… had to replace the string trimmer head after 10 years………simple swap job.

IMO……….99% Less headache than IC engines.

Dino juice isn't the problem. Corn juice is.
