Had a pretty unnerving situation occur last night while out running. Made me realize how vulnerable I am while exercising, as I'm typically out of breath.

Do any of you carry while running? If so, how do you do it without the gun flopping around everywhere?

Everytime I see someone with a fanny pack, I know that they are packing heat.

I am not going to wear a fanny pack, but I would put on a lightweight backpack.

could you run with a plate vest that has a secure holster? rucking with heavy plates give you a more effective workout and can both protect your vitals and conceal a firearm securely without flopping around your beltline.

I was looking at a small chest-style pack but a fanny pack may be better

I do a weighted hike 1x/week. It would be easy to conceal when doing that.

I have snug fitting workout pants that i can drop an LCP into the pocket of. It's been good for me for years. It probably prints enough for people to know what it is if they're looking, but whatever I've got it on me anyway

An incident just occurred in Houston's Memorial park where an attempted robbery resulted in shots fired from the intended victim. I have an elastic belly band. Check Alien Gear holsters for options.

Arrowhead makes gym shorts with a built in carrier system that gets good reviews. I've never used it but seems like it would work with the right holster setup. Might want to go with a holster that has a retention strap if jogging.

These are pricy but I used to wear it when I ran in Houston, plus keeps crap out of my pockets and weighing stuff down

https://hillpeoplegear.com/Products/CategoryID/1/ProductID/182

They also have a little strap you can use where it keeps it from bouncing too much if it bothers you.

I also really enjoy wearing this while I hike, keeps my hands and everything else free

They are a little pricy and I don't know your budget but BOCO in cases like this. And if you don't like it, myself or others would buy it here or the Facebook group.

Check Amazon before you commit to that one. Plenty options under $50 that look good.

Or not. I'm known to be a penny pincher.

I've been running with a Glock 43 in the Phlster Enigma for the past few years. Perfect setup for me. I really don't even know it's there. Holds the gun securely in a good holster.

Phlster holsters are independent of shorts.

Check out the Uncharted Supply park pack. Not the fastest deployment(waterproof zipper and rides in the rear), but it's comfortable while will increase the chances of having it with you all the time.

+1. I love it because i can wear in any athletic shorts, or whatever else. Still giving me a secure kydex holster.

I used to love running at night around the neighborhood. One night a random dude from out of no where approached me yelling and such. I've stopped running at night except a well light area closer to the house. It's just not worth it.

I have two of the hill people gear chest kits. The runner/snubby or whatever they call it is perfect for my 43x. I have their larger one for my 45 and 17. I clip my ifak below either as dangler.

I also have a T3 fanny pack that I've been using a lot while hiking. It can also double as a dangler on my "real" chest rigs.

I need to get a spare holster to wrap with Velcro. I currently have a tiny s biner for leash.

Make sure you train with whatever you get. It's pretty easy to flag yourself.
HPG makes/made a chest kit that converts to a fanny pack. I wish I had one.

+1 for Hill People Gear. A little pricey but it's worth it. Nice that you can also carry phone and keys in it.

Valid question, apologies for the drive-by post while working...

The Phlster Enigma is an excellent good option (the owners are very capable and knowledgeable shooters themselves)

A fanny pack or chest pack would also work, ideally one that is designed to carry a firearm. Realistically, you need to be able to draw your firearm from whatever solution you are using in under 3 seconds, preferably 2 seconds. I've seen that done with well set up chest and fanny packs, and definitely with an Enigma. Doing that crossdraw, under your shirt, after unfastening a velcro retention strap... it's just not happening.

Don't want to get too specific but a couple teens (who, based on their clothes were not there to exercise) started following me around harassing me and eventually followed me into a place that could have been really hard to get out of

Runner that carries here.

The best that I have seen is the VNSH holster. I have tried a number of others the VNSH is the best one I have seen. I have carried the Glock 19 and the Glock 43 with it and it holds both well.

There are also pouches for extra mags or your ID or whatever.

Currently carry using a spiritus systems fanny pack, not a fan. Even at a really slow pace it's going to bounce.

I'm currently looking at the mentioned phlster enigma as a solution.

With a fanny pack/chest rig, you are almost always going to have some bounce. I have spent a fair amount of money experimenting with various brands etc. Some were ok for walking but not running.

Also, most fanny packs don't come with a a built in holster or anything that protects the trigger, so you need a holster, as well as a fanny pack. Most of the ones that I've seen advertised for runners are not even remotely close. The one above with the shoulder strap, ain't gonna work for a serious runner doing serious miles. I don't even have to pray about that one. It sits up way too high the chest and that shoulder strap would rub you raw.

The VNSH holster keeps the guy tight to the body and covers the trigger. It is lined with yoga pant material and it which helps wick away the sweat. I have taken my gun off after a 5mile run in the Texas heat, the gun was completely dry.
Its also one of the better concealment systems I've seen. With a Glock 43, there is no way you could tell that I was carrying.

Amphipod hydration belt with a storage compartment. It doesn't bounce badly and I also clip on a small pepper spray that I can get to much quicker for 4 legged threats or to buy time to draw if needed

Yeah.... screw a pile of that. Carry. There's more than one way to teach civility to youth.

While I have yall, I'm in the market for a 9 mm edc. I currently have a cheap Taurus I carry at the ranch/etc but not gonna trust my life to a $200 pistol. Also have a full size 1911, but no way I'm carrying that thing.

Will need to be concealable on a 5'4", 130# frame.

I shoot my shield really well but I'd go G43 just for compatibility with holsters and if you plan on making any other upgrades. Neither option would be a bag choice though

Shield Plus might be the perfect subcompact in 9mm.

I say this before I have had a chance to paw at a Shield X though. The X is more compact size though so if looking for a true sub size, the Plus is a fantastic choice.
