How long before I need to worry about meat in the freezer?

Depends on how full and DON'T open the door.

Small generator will run a freezer. Cheaper than replacing a freezer full of meat.

Depends on a lot. Whats the temperature outside? What's the temperature inside where the freezer is?

Upright or chest, throw some insulation like a sleeping bag or comforter over it to extend time. Beg, borrow or acquire generator asap.

If you don't open it will last about 1.5-2 days before meat starts to thaw.



Go buy a small generator either way. You can get a cheap 2000 watt inverter generator from Harbor Freight. It will be quiet, easy to start, easy to maintain, and you won't have to worry about this any more. If you are in Texas and in hurricane threat areas, or in tornado alley, a small generator is essential. They are affordable enough now that every household should have one.

24 hours I wouldn't worry at all. 48 hours may or may not be a problem.

I spent the afternoon in Sunray helping with the cleanup. I've got a small generator that you are welcomed to if you'd like!

My oldest is heading to town tomorrow morning for 2 a days and will be helping with ffa chapter cleanup after 1 pm. He can take the generator to town tomorrow morning.

Thanks for the offer. I was able to borrow one from a friend in Dumas this evening annd used it for about 2 hours. And the power just came back on. So it was out from 3 am to nearly 10 pm. Hopefully y'all fared better than town out your way?

Now about being able to play football… have you seen the stadium?

Yes. My boy is a senior this year. He went to the practice field to clean it up for practice tomorrow morning.

It was pretty bad, we were fortunate out here at the farm. We have a backup generator so we've been okay. Minimal damage but our fields have been decimated. No doubt it will be a total loss. Thank heavens for crop hail insurance.
