My son adopted from a shelter. The puppy had been abandoned and picked up by a rescue shelter, half starved and with the pavo virus. He survived that and my son adopted him at ~12-weeks old. He will follow you around the house if you leave the room and just wants to be around everyone else. When we watch him for my son, he will sleep outside our bedroom door all curled up and not move until I get up in the morning. I think he has abandonment issues. He really does not like to be left alone.

Many do. And for good reason.

Follow up. Completely part of the family already. One problem, our house is 85% hardwood. She won't put all 4 paws on hardwood. Installed a runner rug to get her from the tile to outside, but really want her to feel comfortable everywhere in the house so she isn't saddled to the rugs and tile. Any ideas?

I haven't had a dog with this ptoblem but here are my ideas. Mind you, I'm already a few drinks into the evening.

Make sure his nails are trimmed,
Treats whenever he puts his paws on the wood floor,
Softpaws or Softclaws or booties to give him traction, or
Time because he might learn from the other dogs.

Update: worst dog breath in the world. Surgery scheduled for 2 weeks for now for at least 4 rotten tooth extractions. Thought she was around 80, but wife to one her to the vet and she's currently 92. Got back from our road trip and she won't stop laying on me. Doesn't seem to want to eat based on pain, no matter what I give her, just enough to get by.
