New to kayaking the area, any issues getting from river road to the ramp at I-35 on the Guadalupe? I see there's an access point near gruene but hoping for something a little further up on River rd.

I live between Gruene and First Crossing. The river is very low right now. You'll be dragging the kayak at multiple points and will struggle with some of the rapids.

We always put in at Canyon Lake Dam and fished to just before the Horse Shoe.

There is a dam just upstream from the I35 bridge/boat launch. Don't know if it's portagable.

I have put in at cypress bend park and paddled down to the takeout below the 35 bridge. You can go up into the lower comal from there too. That's probably a better float now with the water levels.

I've been thinking of putting in at the bridge behind the gristmill in Gruene, and floating down to 35, just not sure if there are any areas that will cause issues

The biggest issue with this is Kayak transport. You can't park by the water so you'd have to use public parking at the top of the hill and carry the kayak down.

Go to the ramp under I35 and kayak Dunlap. Or cypress bend park and go down/up. The area closer to gruene is a pain for access and low. Other local options is any of the Canyon Lake boat ramps. We like to go to Turkey Cove. Now so few boats so it's smooth and dont have to worry about being run over
