Are some of the best naps. Chasing trout & reds today & took a big ol' 3 finger lipper of my buddy's Copenhagen after having been shut of it for 6 years. By the time I waded out to the cut I was spinning and headed back to the boat in real slow motion. Laid back with the clouds perfectly timing the sun's relief, cool breeze, gentle sway, and waves lapping against the hull, I passed smooth out for about 40 minutes. Woke up with a whole new outlook on life and a firm reminder of why I quit dipping the last time. I will make it a habit from now on to take more boat naps, just without the snuff spins to initiate them.

I'm not much of a napper, but my two kids napped on the boat yesterday.

Yep. If the weather is right is is quite nice. I've actually spent time trying to figure a way to rig up a hammock on my skiff. The center console is really in the way. I have some ideas though.

The real danger is a killer sunburn if your Power Nap goes long. I guess if you've been fishing, you've already got sun protection on.

My first tobacco was a chew of Brown Mule. I almost passed out.

Asked my buddy for the can so I could grab a three finger lipper
Started spinning and I passed out, dreaming about the night before with the one legged stripper

Zyn for the win!

My first dip was Kodiak Bear at a retreat with my Baptist Sunday school teachers. We went to a former Atlanta Falcon's hunting lodge. I puked all over the bathroom.

My nickname from then on, at church, was Bear.

I get my best sleep on boats. Everytime going offshore on our boats, I would sleep while trolling. I had that sixth sense and would wake up right before the reels started screaming.

Started dipping Hawken wintergreen at the age of 13. That stuff was like candy. Still miss a pinch when I have my morning coffee. Decided to quit snuff before it quit me.

As far as boat naps go, if you ever get a chance to catch a wink while on a sailboat, take it.

I have work to do and need to get off Texags, but now, with A.I., we could ask it to write a song with these lyrics and put it to music in the style of Jimmy Buffet by this afternoon!

Some of the best naps are while turkey hunting when the action gets really slow. Get next to a tree trunk and use my backpack as a pillow.
Just got to watch out for snakes.

Here's a country song with a Jimmy Buffett vibe, all about kicking back on a Texas fishing boat with a big ol' dip of Copenhagen before drifting off into a nap.

"Three-Finger Lipper & a Lone Star Nap"

(Verse 1)
Well, I woke up early, grabbed my pole and my tin
Hit the Gulf Coast waters with a big ol' grin
Cool breeze blowin', not a worry in sight
Got a Copenhagen pinch that's packed in tight

(Pre-Chorus)
Yeah, the sun's shinin' down like a good old friend
And these waves keep hummin' like a song on the wind

(Chorus)
I got a three-finger lipper and a Lone Star nap
Kickin' back easy, yeah, I'm good with that
Boat rockin' slow, like a baby's dream
Ain't no place I'd rather be
With the fish jumpin' high and my hat pulled low
Driftin' off easy where the warm winds blow
I got a three-finger lipper and a Lone Star nap
Man, life don't get much better than that

(Verse 2)
Got a bobber dancin' but I don't really care
Might just let that big one take it somewhere
My old dog's snorin' on a pile of rope
Yeah, we're both floatin' like a song full of hope

(Pre-Chorus)
A little salt in the air and a beer on ice
Nothin' 'round here but the good times twice

(Bridge)
Now the sun's sinkin' low but I'm still right here
Ain't moved much but I'm full of cheer
Might take one more pinch for the evening tide
And ride this dreamboat all through the night

(Outro)
Yeah, I got a three-finger lipper and a Lone Star nap
Y'all can keep the hustle, I ain't into that
Just a good time flowin' like the waves so free
Ain't no place that I'd rather be…
(Fade out with the sound of waves, seagulls, and a soft guitar solo…)

My youngest son is a huge boat napper even though he is not a napping person IRL. It's all fun and games until you awake a napping toddler who isn't ready to wake up and he is under a console and rips the speaker wires out. That was 8 years ago when he was barely 2 and he still boat naps at almost 10.

Best sleep of my life was when I worked offshore

The swells felt like I was being rocked to sleep
