We are doing the same. We usually go to 30A and are thinking of trying this since it is a little less driving.

Can't imagine driving all the way to Florida when we have a whole lot of beach here in Texas.

If you come from north TX, it's only a few hours of driving more to Destin than it is to Port A. If you live in Austin, San Antonio, Houston, etc, it's a different discussion.

Four hours and one Buccees stop and I am in the ferry line.

the food at the restaurant next to Palmilla Golf Course is good as well. Also has a cool little outdoor patio/bar set up thats a good place to post up for a while.

We've rented a house at CS for a week every summer for the past 5-10 years. It's really nice. My only minor complaint is the younger kids (teenagers +/-) hauling ass in golf carts, especially at night. Lots of golf carts flying around everywhere around houses and public areas with lots of people around. Many of the kids are obviously drinking (which I don't give a damn about in and of itself) and can get pretty reckless. Someone is going to get really hurt if it hasn't happened already. Old man yelling at cloud I know...

non-summer has a bit fewer abandoned tattered EZ-ups canopies, redneck fupas, weed smell and obscene flags too

summertime your kids MIGHT come back from the sand with a new tattoo and a cig dangling from thier lip with a white claw
Agreed... Do not book at PA between CS and Corpus in July. I would like to get through the ferry line without having to take a nap.

It's happened several times. About a year and a half ago a drunk 62 year old man hit a cart on Alister with six aboard. One was care flight....three were transported to Corpus....two had minor injuries....broken legs and ribs.

I think there have been at least two deaths in the last five years or so..

Last year a couple where in a pickup. If I remember correct they hadn't been in Port A before. She was driving north on the beach road at night. She drove over the jetty into the Corpus Christi channel. He got out. Took a long time to get the truck off the bottom of the channel the next day.

The place you really need to be conscious of is Hwy 361 especially around Cinnamon Shores on the strip that has a passing lane heading into Port A. I think the speed limit is 60mph. Seventeen deaths in the last ten years and you will normally see a patrol.

Yeah I was talking about golf carts flying around within Cinammon Shores.

The whole golf cart thing in /around town is another thing altogether.

I am in Oklahoma, so it's a drive either way. Grew up in htown and have been all over the gulf coast. The beaches and water are much better at 30A. Now if they build a similar community style as 30A, we would change as it isn't so much better to justify the 5 extra hours.

We've stayed at CS a handful of times… and Pamilla beach - always with our kids and grandkids. Hubby and I go to PA several times a year alone and stay elsewhere. Definitely not worth the money if you don't have kids that enjoy the activities.

We are going to CS in a couple of weeks for Spring Break. It will be our 2nd time staying. We typically go to Galveston for the beach in the summer, but the convenience of everything at CS is extremely convenient with young kids.
