I am not sure if you are buying new or used. If used, call this guy. He is a friend of mine and has good equipment.

I will vouch for American Ag if going used as well. Good dude.

Looks like American Ag LLC is quite far from me, but is this a good deal?

I would compare it to a new one and look on Tractor House for comps. Also do not know if it 4WD and/or HST.

IMO - It does not seem like a bad deal and was one of the lower hour ones I saw on their site.

I bought my Kubota BX 2320 (23HP) new in 2013 for $11K.

Just saw recently it was assessed at $16K for property tax. WTF.

Then saw a similar new Kubota now costs $26K.

WTF.

How is a tractor part of the property tax?
I'm not sure if his tractor is in Virginia or California. I know Virginia you pay personal property taxes on cars, boats, and anything else they can think of. Hiding property, like boats, is very common there.

In Loudoun County, Virginia, it's $4.15 per $100 valuation. How would you like to pay over $3300/year property tax on your $80,000 truck or SUV?

https://www.loudoun.gov/1902/Personal-Property-Taxes

The tractor is in CA. It's a county assessment. I don' think it's a big payment but I'll be calling them to see if I can get an exemption or not.

OP, I have 5 acres and I wish I had a bigger tractor. My 23HP kubota is fine. But once in a while I could use a bigger one.

At what HP rating does the EPA start requiring any kind of BS for exhaust on diesel tractors these days?

That might be a consideration.

I have an old 23HP ford and it does fine with a lot of things on my place except for cutting summer pasture grass. That bogs it down and I have to go slow and tinker with the cutter height.

FEL with a grapple gets used all the time for brush, logs, moving heavy objects including other implements. 4wD would also be useful

75hp and above require the use of DEF.

There are requirements on lower hp than that. My L4701 Kuboata which is 47hp has a diesel particulate filter which goes through regen cycles. I wasn't thrilled about it but it hasn't been a big deal. Honestly I think Kubota came out with that 25 hp tractor as that was just below the threshold for emission requirements. I personally think it is underpowered given the frame size.

Tier 4 requirements started in 2008 and were rolled out over a phased approach based on HP through 2015. Anything 2015 and after, regardless of HP, is Tier 4 requirement with DEF and DPF/regen systems.

I specifically bought my tractor out of several I was looking at because it doesn't have any of that nonsense on it.

I bought a new JD tractor 2 years ago that does not require DEF. It does have the regen system, however.

Maybe I am misunderstanding what you are saying, but I'm pretty confident that even new 75hp and below do not require DEF.
